The Offical Pride Website

The top fighters from different combative sports: Wrestling, Karate, Judo, Kickboxing, and others - all fighting in one ring under the same rules.

This is what was meant by the word "FIGHT" all along.

Antonio Inoki first possessed the fervent dream of realizing an Olympic Games of combative sports. The late Ikki Kajiwara depicted that dream through his illustrated stories, featuring fair rules, neutral rings, and most of all, fighters worthy of the game. All we need are fair rules for all, an independent ring, and eligible fighters.

Now, "PRIDE" has made it real. Beyond the existing structure of combative sports today, we feature the best. "Who is the best?" That was a universal search. Now we have the answer. That's what you'll see in the ring of PRIDE - the white stage of dreams.

5 of the Biggest Potential Fights in the UFC

this artical Written by: Jeremy Botter | Sat, Nov 8, 2008

The Five Biggest Potential UFC Fights
MMA Columns, Mixed Martial Arts

One of the beautiful things about being a mixed martial arts (or any other combat sport, really) fan is the ability to play the “what if” game. What would happen if we matched a legend from the past against one of the new generation of fighters? What would happen if Anderson Silva faced Fedor Emelianenko?

The beauty of these debates is that there’s rarely a right or wrong answer. You might consider BJ Penn to be the best fighter in the world, and you think he’d destroy any lightweight or welterweight you matched him up against. Another fan might consider Takanori Gomi to be the best lightweight in the world.

These are valid arguments with no real correct answer, but that’s what makes the discussion so much fun.

While thinking about these fantasy matchups, I started thinking about potential UFC fights, match-ups between superstars that would be highly anticipated by most of the UFC audience. I came up with a list of ten potential fights or rematches, and I’ve whittled that list down to the five you’ll find below.

When trimming my list to these five bouts, I tried to factor in several criteria: the popularity of the fighters involved, the skill of the fighters involved, and the ability each of them have to sell a pay per view main event either alone or with another fighter of equal or slightly lesser popularity.

The Problem with UFC and MMA

Posted by admin of modern martials arts . comin January 8th 2009

Mixed Martial Arts have become more popular than ever and the UFC has exploded into the mainstream. The problem is that one of the prevailing cultures is that of the tough guy, outlaw, doesn’t care about the rule, male. This attracts, dare I say, the less than stellar people in the world that can fight but aren’t good people, and some fans thats morals aren’t the highest. Look at the recent actions of Quinton “Rampage” Jackson: he evades police, almost killing people on the road and at a bus stop, and is looking at no penalty from the UFC. I know professional athletes in other sports also have their problems, but those organizations tend to enforce behavioral standards. (for more on that look here).

So, in the grand scheme of Martial Arts, the conduct of many of the new “martial artist” drawn in by MMA is less than acceptable. Where the traditions, honor, respect, and integrity of the Arts has been one of the highest priorities through history, the focus in many MMA programs is training to fight and win, at all cost, with no emphasis in becoming a better person. So there is an entire new generation of martial artist that are more concerned with self confidence, fighting records, being tough, and gaining enough skill to just fight and not master; as opposed to the traditional focus of creating better all around people. I’ll try to organize my thoughts better and put up a longer post that says what I really want to, but I read the article link above and decided to try to start a discussion.

I realize that the above is not true of most MMA programs, but the bad are always remembered for being notorious, more than the normal are for being normal. Just think of the show “The Ultimate Fighter”, how many of the guys on there have just been punks? Think about it…

Disclaimer: This post contains generalizations that are not necessarily fair, so try to take it how I mean it, which is more of a discussion starter. This is just an issue, not “why its outrageous” or anything like that, just addressing an issue they have for credibility in the eyes of some in the martial arts world and the public. Thanks.

We looked at there website and it has alot of great articals that give yoyu all sides of the issue of UFC/MMA Cage fighting.if you want to read more fine articals like this one go to there website by clicking title above!!

A Woman you DON"T want to mess with!!

Nickname: Cris Cyborg
Age: 23
Location: UNITED STATES
City: N/A
Gender: Female
Hometown: Curitiba, Brazil
Story: An exceptional all-around athlete who was a high-level track star, Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino was discovered on the handball courts of Curitiba, Brazil by famed Chute Boxe Academy trainer Rudimar Fedrigo. Fedrigo also doubles as a government official for Brazil's national sports program. He tried to convince Cyborg to begin training at Chute Boxe after watching her. Fedrigo was convinced she would become a mixed martial arts star.

Cyborg was initially resistant to the idea of fighting, but eventually agreed to give training a try and immediately fell in love with it. A pure athlete that possesses tremendous aggression, Cyborg looks like a natural born fighter and is undefeated since turning pro. She is the wife of former PRIDE superstar Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos, also a member of Chute Boxe. The Chute Boxe influence shows every time Cristiane fights, as she fights like the female version of Wanderlei Silva.

Much to the delight of many hardcore MMA fans, Cyborg has arrived in the United States after having competed exclusively in Brazil. Having developed a cult following via YouTube clips that displayed her dominating performances in her four previous MMA bouts, there are those who believe that Cyborg could be the best pound-for-pound fighter in female MMA and the next face of female MMA.
