UFC fighter Shane Carwin linked to steroids probe in Alabama

Greeley resident Shane Carwin, one of the top fighters for the Ultimate Fighting Championship, was identified as one of 22 professional athletes who ordered steroids from an operation based in Mobile, Ala., that has led to the arrests of several Weld County residents.

The Mobile (Ala.) Press-Register newspaper reported Friday that Carwin's name was revealed during the sentencing of J. Michael Bennett, the supervising pharmacist of Applied Pharmacy Services. Bennett was one of five men convicted in February 2010 of steroids charges; among the others is Brett W. Branch of Eaton.

Carwin's manager, Jason Genet, said Sunday that Carwin had no comment but would make a statement after his investigation into what was revealed.

Carwin has never failed a drug test in his professional fighting career.

The time period for the steroid operation was from 2004-06. Carwin made his mixed martial arts debut in October 2005 and started fighting for the UFC in 2008. On July 3, he nearly won the heavyweight title from Brock Lesnar in the first round but lost it in the second to a choke submission.

The list of athletes who ordered steroids from the company includes Kurt Angle, a professional entertainment wrestler and Olympic gold medal-winning wrestler, Brendan Kirby of the Press-Register reported.

Dan Hardy,Brock Lesnar, Michael BispingJon Jones and the 20 Most Overhyped Fighters of All Time

From the Bleacher reports they give you the 20 most hyped MMA Stars in the UFC but lets take this to a different direction. What is cool about the UFC/MMA world is you do have hype of several UFC stars like WWE superstars you see both on TV promoting products or the events people of the press makes them seem larger then life but the main difference is WWE is more on an entertainment value and the UFC is real deal.Fighters in the UFC really do fight and that is no hype. They beat themselves bloody and hug each other in the end.The world of MMA has both Hype for there superstars and the realism or combat well this is my thoughts on this subject if you want to know what Bleacher Reports has to say about what they believe is the 20 most HYped UFC Superstars of all time then go to the website by clicking the title above...

UFC: Junior Dos Santos Says Brock Lesnar Has a "Weak Chin"

This artical was written by John Heinis(Featured Columnist) on April 20, 2011 from Bleacher Reports

The main event of UFC 131 is heating up, as Junior Dos Santos has now taken a verbal swing at former heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar.

Dos Santos' latest comments with The MMA Hour showed how confident he is for the June 11 showdown between the two heavyweight contenders.

“He's a wrestler, so he feels uncomfortable when people throw punches on him. I think his fight against Cain Velasquez shows good things for me, because I think he's got a weak chin.”

The Brazilian power puncher also had his comments fueled by what Lesnar said in an interview with The Aftermath.

After acknowledging that his boxing needs improvement, the former “Next Big Thing” went on to say: "As far as learning…I don't know if you ever get used to taking punches, but that's not the problem.”

Lesnar explained his comments by continuing with "The problem is all my other assets have been farther ahead of the game and this is one we're going to have to keep lagging along and not get frustrated and understand I got to get better."

Dos Santos took the former comment to mean that Lesnar cannot take a punch.

Perhaps even more surprisingly, Dos Santos went on to say that he does not think Brock is capable of overwhelming him with his wrestling in this fight.

We will see if Dos Santos can back up his words if you want to read the rest of this artical you can go to there website by clicking the title above...

Tag Team in the MMA World

I was just thinking could there ever be tag teams in the MMA world? How could this work?In pro wrestling alot is intertainment and it is staged in such a way to make it intertaining. You have good guys and bad guys most of the time the bad guys would cheat to get ahead. In MMA everything is real and people abide by the rules.I think it will be hard to do this in the MMA and still make it exciting. Here is a website from yahoo sports with a video in what tag taem cagefight would look like the author thought the whole idea of tag teal cagefighting was a dumb idea if you want to learn more you can go to the website by clicking the title above...

Linda Shields not your male promoter...

Women in the MMA world you see them in sexy clothing like the ring girls in the UFC and some women become fighters but one woman Linda Shields is taking on a new roll as promoter. She has her own organization in the north eastern USA called Cage Fighting Extreme.I checked out the website and it looks like she did a nice job,It looks really good.I think it is a good idea for women to take on other ventures like promoting, broadcasting, and other jobs then just being sex simbils in cagefighting events.

This is my 2 cents worth of opinion for the day .If you are interested in Linda Shields website then click the title above.....

This is a Litttle of Topic

Surfing the net I found an artical to get realy big in a safe way with out using steriods. It looks like an advertisment for Nitric Oxide. Here is the artical and you can judge for yourself.

(Cambridge) - Have you ever considered taking steroids to get a perfect body?

With the recent media coverage exposing steroid use in professional sports, many everyday people are looking for an extra edge to build muscle, get stronger, and look better.

Steroids, although effective, are unhealthy and illegal to use without a prescription. Millions of dollars have been spent in sports medicine research to find a completely safe, natural alternative that produces the same results.

After years of research scientists now agree that nitric oxide supplements are a safe way to maximize your muscle gains.

UFC Champion BJ Penn started using a nitric oxide supplement called Force Factor last year. Penn recently told us, "Force Factor is the absolute best product to hit the market in years."

Other athletes like basketball Rookie of the Year Derrick Rose and professional football player Vernon Davis are just now discovering the dramatic benefits of using a nitric oxide supplement. Vernon has been an advocate of Force Factor since first taking it, telling his teammates in San Francisco, "Force Factor has proven results. I believe in results."

The Science Behind Nitric Oxide

Your body naturally produces nitric oxide to move oxygen into your muscles while you exercise. This burst of oxygen keeps your muscles functioning while lifting weights or through your cardio session.

Unfortunately, your body can only generate a limited amount of nitric oxide. When the nitric oxide runs out your muscles can no longer power through the exercise no matter how much mental determination you have.

Taking a nitric oxide supplement 30 minutes before your workout could be the push your body needs to add weight to your bench press or run that extra mile. This increased stamina results in longer, harder workouts and a better body in less time.

The Benefits of Nitric Oxide Supplements

•Drastic Muscle Gains
•Increased Blood Flow and Oxygen Delivery to Muscles
•Transform Your Body
•Boosted Strength, Endurance and Power
•Supports Your Immune System
•Immediate Results
What’s the Best Nitric Oxide Product?

Now that the science behind nitric oxide has been proven, several companies are rushing to bring a nitric oxide supplement to consumers, but which is the best?

Force Factor is, without question, the most popular nitric oxide supplement available. Thousands of people have already bought Force Factor online or from their local GNC. In fact, Force Factor recently won GNC's "Rising Star Award" because of its breakthrough muscle building formula.

Professional basketball and football players, as well as several UFC fighters, have all said that Force Factor works for them. Will you continue to struggle at the gym, or will you take this opportunity to finally see the results you want?

UPDATE: Force Factor is now offering 14-day samples to readers of Health Headlines on a limited basis. If you are not able to claim a sample online you can find Force Factor at your local GNC.

For more infomation about Nitric Oxide you can go to the Health Headlines website by clicking the title above....

Cage fighting: Hero Para getting to grips with combat of a different kind

I got this articalfrom the stafford shire website. Many people in the arm forces around the world are into MMA and several compete in there off time from the service. The military is trained for combat they can test there skills to see who is the better fighter. Here is the artical by cage fighting peter smith

A HERO paratrooper is determined to live up to his reputation as the toughest newcomer in a sport full of hard cases.

Private Adam Randle, who is from Northwood, has been shot at in Sangin, one of most dangerous towns in Afghanistan, and also served on the front-line in Iraq.

But now the 25-year-old is preparing to put his hand-to-hand combat skills to the test at Liquid nightclub in Hanley for the second bout of his burgeoning alternative career.

The brawler in the Red Beret will take on Lancashire's Lee Garret in Night Of The Gladiators 7 tomorrow – and has vowed to put on a show for his home crowd.

"I'm quick on my feet and strong in the punch and the kick," said the Stafford-born contender who is currently stationed in Colchester.

"Many have tried to put me down and all have failed. I can't wait to get in there to get the job done.

"I was already fit, but the extra training has been intense and I am ready to take on anyone."

Randle was in a group of soldiers ambushed by the Taliban in 2006 when his colleague, 19-year-old Private Damien Jackson, was fatally wounded.

Randle was commended for his bravery for helping to drag his friend through the gunfire to a ditch to administer emergency first aid before rejoining the fight.

He later learnt of his friend's death, and although a coroner praised his "unthinking courage", the modest veteran insists his actions were nothing out of the ordinary.

"People might have called me a hero," he said, "but I just do my job. I couldn't imagine being any other way. I live life on the edge."

The all-action hero has also been an international bobsled racer, and missed out on an appearance at last year's Winter Olympics in Vancouver after pulling a hamstring.

But the setback had a silver-lining when friends persuaded the sidelined Para him to have a go at cage fighting instead.

Two months later he made a crunching debut at the Victoria Hall in Hanley, stopping his rival in just two rounds to send the crowd wild.

"I'm trained in unarmed combat, but it was totally different to anything I have ever done before – and I loved the buzz," said Randle, who is due to end his nine-year career with the Paras this summer.

"I was introduced to bobsled through the Army and enjoyed competing at the top level for a couple of years, but I'm not going back.

"Instead I'm going to Thailand soon to take some Thai boxing sessions because I want the skills to go as far as I can in cage fighting. I just love that rush of adrenaline."

Reports: Sergio Salcido Luna killed

Violence at the U.S.-Mexico border crossing near Tijuana claimed the lives of two American citizens early Monday morning, including a young man with nine professional mixed martial arts bouts.

Sergio Salcido Luna, 25, a professional fighter since 2005, and 28-year-old Kevin Joel Romero -- co-workers at West Coast Beverage, a San Diego-based company that services draft beer equipment -- were shot dead with a 9 mm weapon as they waited in a company truck at the San Ysidro border crossing at around 2:40 a.m. PT, according to published reports.

The assailant approached on foot between the lines of vehicles, fired his weapon and fled, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune, which cited a Mexican law-enforcement source. Salcido and Romero were shot in the head, chest and arms.

After suggesting the shooting could be drug-related, the Baja California Attorney General's Office ruled out that possibility on Tuesday. Investigators first believed a small amount of marijuana was found on Salcido, but testing revealed the fighter was not in possession of illegal drugs, according to the Union-Tribune.

Neither Salcido nor Romero had a criminal record, according to a U.S. law-enforcement source who spoke to the Union-Tribune.

Matt Pelot, the owner of West Coast Beverage, told The Los Angeles Times that the men had moved to Mexico for family and financial reasons and were trying to avoid traffic by getting to the border crossing before 3 a.m. PT.

Salcido amassed a 4-5 record while competing at welterweight. His career began promisingly enough with four victories in his first five bouts, however he lost his last four since 2009. Salicido was in the midst of training for a fight in June, according to a report by NBCSanDiego.com.

Information from ESPN.com's Josh Gross was used in this report.

UFC Fighter Brock Lesnar Denies WWE WrestleMania Interest

January 26, 2011
By Brian Cantor
An post-fight encounter between former UFC Champion Brock Lesnar and his former WWE colleague The Undertaker at UFC 121 sparked buzz about Lesnar possibly getting into bed with the wrestling company for a one-off appearance at WrestleMania.

Though UFC President Dana White, who holds Lesnar’s contract, denied the possibility from the start, rumors persisted that WWE was to put on a full-court press to make the appearance happen.

More importantly, reports, notably those from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, implied that Lesnar, himself, was very interested due to the fact that he could promote his upcoming biography and make about $2 million with a relatively-harmless foray into the ring.

Brock, however, denies that he ever expressed such interest.

Speaking to Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports, Lesnar explains, “That thing just took on a life of its own…I’m a fighter. There wasn’t anything there. I never pursued anything, no.”
