This artical was written By Brian Lopez-Benchimol(Featured Columnist) on December 27, 2011

The UFC has done an amazing job of branding themselves the pinnacle of the mixed martial arts community.

No matter where you're from, every fighter hopes to one day aspire to become part of the Zuffa family, which has, in recent years, ventured across many new markets, including England, Germany, Abu Dhabi as well as re-immersing themselves in Brazil and Japan.

Making bad comments and insults

Frank Hyden, MMATorch contributor feels that several of the comments made by some of the UFC Fighters were inappropriate. Miguel made remark about a rape van, saying "If a rape van were called a surprise van more women wouldn't mind going for rides in then. Everyone loves surprises." Forrest Griffin said that was also inappropriate, "Rape is the new missionary." The tweets that they made are insulting to women and inappropriate,It also in my opinion give the people who are trying to ban MMA events fuel saying that MMA is barbaric. Dana White should disipline both men for what they said for more info you can go to the MMA Torch website by clicking the title above...

St Louis MMA fighters cheer up children at Shriners Hospital for Children

It is always good to post the good thing MMA Fighters do because you always hear the negitive.....

This artical was written by William Duggan St. Louis Martial Arts Fitness Examiner on November 18,2011.

TweetPrintEmail. In a recent visit, four MMA fighters, visited the Shriners Hospital for Children in the St Louis Metro area to spend time with children who otherwise would not get to meet such athletes. Kyle Watson, a UFC fighter, Cory Hunter and Hugh Pulley, fighters in the upcoming Faction MMA Rising fights this coming Saturday, November 19th, and Matt Jordan, owner of Faction MMA, visited the children of the St Louis Shriners Hospital for Children for an opportunity that the fighters and the children will not soon forget.

In an Interview with Matt Jordan, Owner of Faction MMA and MMA practitioner himself, he said that it was a great experience which could not be explained in words. When they reached the hospital the children were down and you could see that they were sad, but after a short while, the fighters and the kids were all playing and enjoying themselves, playing foosball, air hockey and other games. Matt also said “it was great to see the athletes, which are members of one of the most brutal sports, to become big softies with the kids”, and “to see the smiles come to the kids’ faces.”

MMA rookie and Olympian Ben Askren, UFC vet Din Thomas win in Missouri

This artical was written by MMAjunkie.com Staff on Feb 08, 2009 at 4:15 am ET

Former Olympian and two-time NCAA Division I national wrestling champion Ben Askren's first professional MMA fight was a quick one.

Askren (1-0), a former University of Missouri wrestler, scored a first-round TKO of Josh Flowers (0-3) at the Holiday Inn Expo Center in Columbia, Mo., at the debut Headhunters Fight League event.

Askren, the head wrestling instructor at American Top Team of Missouri, scored an early takedown and forced an 84-second stoppage after a subsequent ground-and-pound assault.

Askren, a four-time All-American, finished his collegiate wrestling career with a stellar 153-8 record with 91 pins. He went undefeated his junior and senior years with an 87-0 record.

Prior to competing in this year's Beijing Olympics, where he was knocked out of medal contention by eventual bronze medalist Cuba's Ivan Fundora, Askren announced his intentions of going pro in MMA.

As he recently told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com), Askren knows his past accomplishments don't necessarily mean success in MMA.

"The thing in MMA is there's such a large skill set," Askren said. "I wrestled 17 years fulltime, so I picked up a lot of skills, some I can use still. I know how to get in shape. I know some good ways to work out.

"I know everyone in the room is going to be tough, and nothing's going to be easy (in MMA). There are no easy days, but it's like wrestling. You have to depend on yourself. The stronger man, the better man will win."

Also staking claim to a win at the event was former UFC fighter and "The Ultimate Fighter 4" cast member Din Thomas (23-8).

Thomas, who dropped from lightweight to featherweight for the fight, stopped Dustin Peiter (1-1) in the first round of the night's main event.

UFC News

This artical was writter by By Ben Fowlkes Nov 20th 2011 4:43PM

Among the MMA media who log serious frequent flier miles following the UFC around the country all year, it takes something major to jar them out of the vague sense that fight night is another day at the office.

That's not to say that even the most grizzled road warriors on press row aren't appreciative of having a job they love following a sport they're passionate about, but when you start to hear the UFC's in-arena playlist in your sleep (damn you, techno remix of "Hotel California"!), some of the action can start to feel routine.

Then you get an event like UFC 139, which ended with quite possibly the best fight any of us had ever seen. As Dan Henderson and "Shogun" Rua battled back and forth for five rounds, a sense of baffled astonishment set in. It's that rare moment where you realize you're witnessing something amazing, even as that something is still happening. You could look at the faces of the fans in the arena and picture them preparing to tell their grandchildren about this night decades from now

How to Be a UFC Cage Fighter

This artical was written By eHow Contributor updated October 29, 2011

1 Find a gym that teaches mixed martial arts. Some gyms have trainers that specialize in MMA, while others have trainers that can work with newcomers on stand up and ground fighting skills.

2 Develop your stamina and watch your diet. This applies regardless of the sport. Fighters tend to need a high protein diet.

3 Enter as many competitions in kick boxing, grappling and amateur mixed martial arts as you can. Many of these early bouts will be low-paying affairs, but the experience is invaluable.

4 Send a tape of your performances to the UFC. Since UFC does not have the television exposure of other sports, the organization does not have an easy way to scout or evaluate talent. The UFC uses video to evaluate which new fighters it will book on any of its cards.

Dos Santos wins title as UFC tries to enter mainstream

This artical was published by Kansis Star on Nov 12

Viewers watching the first appearance of a mixed martial arts fight on network television got a taste of the sport’s violence but not much else Saturday night.

Junior Dos Santos stopped Cain Velasquez just 1 minute, 4 seconds into their Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight title bout in Anaheim, Calif.

Dos Santos hit Velasquez with an overhand right early in the first round, staggering the previously unbeaten champion to the canvas. Dos Santos jumped onto Velasquez, who defended himself briefly before finally succumbing to Dos Santos’ relentless blows.

“I have no words to say what I’m feeling,” said Dos Santos, who burst into tears in celebration after raising his record to 14-1. “It’s amazing, my life. I have a lot of good people around me. I think Cain Velasquez was for sure my toughest opponent. I was afraid to fight with him, because he’s very tough. I was not 100 percent for this fight, so I was scared.”

UFC 141 press conference LIVE updates today (Nov. 11) for 'Lesnar vs Overeem' in Santa Monica

This artical was writen by by Brian Hemminger on Nov 11, 2011 4:54 PM EST in UFC Press Conference

Ultimate Fighting Championship will hold a public press conference today (Nov. 11, 2011) to officially announce UFC 141: "Lesnar vs Overeem," which will take place at the end of the year (Dec. 30, 2011).

The conference will begin at 5 p.m. ET live from the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in Santa Monica, California, although the fight event will be taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Scheduled to attend will be UFC president Dana White, as well as the headlining fighters of the evening, Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem, who will be battling for the right to challenge for the UFC heavyweight title.

Lesnar is the former UFC heavyweight champion. The ex-WWE superstar and national champion Minnesota wrestler lost his title last year to current champ Cain Velasquez. He's had a much publicized battle with diverticulitis which was (hopefully) finally cured with surgery earlier this year.

His opponent, Alistair Overeem, is one of the scariest heavyweights on the planet. The Dutch kickboxer has not lost an MMA fight since 2007 and left Strikeforce as the promotion's heavyweight champion. In his spare time, he also won the single night K-1 Heavyweight Grand Prix to become a kickboxing champion last year.

We'll have complete updates of the UFC 141 press conference after the jump:

Dana White Confirms UFC’s January Return to Brazil

Got this comment from Sher Dog website.

In wake of the tremendous success of UFC 134, UFC President Dana White made the decision to not stay away from Brazil for long. In fact, the promotion will head back to Rio de Janeiro in January, according to an announcement White made on Friday.

News of the UFC’s return was first revealed by referee Mario Yamasaki, who confirmed to Sherdog.com that Zuffa LLC representatives have asked him to be part of the show. White made the plans official in an interview with UOL, Brazil’s largest news website.

“Yes, the UFC will head back to Brazil by January, and we’re already working on the next UFC Rio,” White said. “[UFC CEO] Lorenzo [Fertitta] has been traveling around Brazil over the last few weeks to discuss this kind of question. We’re running against time to set the lineup and final details.”

Yamasaki admits he was caught off guard.

“The UFC called me to be the referee,” he said. “They sent me an e-mail asking if I would be available on Jan. 14. I didn’t know it wasn’t official, so I tweeted it. Then, all the Brazilian media jumped on it, and I immediately sent an e-mail asking for apologies. But, for sure, the UFC will be in Rio on Jan. 14. I also believe there will be other shows in Sao Paulo and Manaus.”

The UFC returned to Brazil in August after a 13-year absence, but preparations for that event were being made in December 2010. This time, matchmaker Joe Silva will have only two months to pair the fights. White does not seem concerned.

“I can’t give any further information about the deals for another UFC Rio show,” he said. “I can’t tell anything further, but I can assure that we signed everything in a record time.”

Yamasaki believes the UFC can give Rio de Janeiro’s fans another high-level lineup like UFC 134, which featured UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva, onetime Pride Fighting Championships heavyweight titleholder Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. The referee told Sherdog.com the next show will not take place at the 16,000-seat HSBC Arena.

“The UFC has a plenty of possibilities to match up great fighters,” Yamasaki said. “They don’t need more than two days to define a lineup, and they will give the fans great fights again. Rio de Janeiro’s second show will take place somewhere other than HSBC Arena; maybe it will happen in a soccer stadium. The UFC website received 400,000 requests from people interested in tickets.”

MMA Cage Fighting

Cage fighting is one of the most physically demanding and downright dangerous sports in the world and it's popularity is exploding. MMA fighters must utilize the most effective techniques from a variety of martial arts to dominate their opponent. While MMA cagefighting is no longer billed as "no holds barred" the submission and choke holds used are frightening to even watch for the uninitiated.

Mixed Martial Arts cage fighting is a unique competitive sport where two adults fight in a padded chain link cage in a style similar to street fighting. Cage fighting has relatively few rules and can be a ruthless sport. Unlike boxing, Judo or kickboxing, cage fighting has only three main rules that state; “No gouging of the eyes, no fish hook to the mouth and no fingers in orifices”. Recent additions to the rules include rules regarding elbow striking.

Cage fighters use a combination of kick boxing and wrestling techniques to strike or choke their opponent into submission or render them unable to fight. MMA is a full-contact unarmed contest various techniques from the traditional range of disciplines, which include Thai boxing, submission wrestling, Ju Jujitsu, Judo and others. While mixed martial arts fighters spend a lot of time perfecting their martial arts skills, a MMA fight often more closely resembles a street brawl than a sport.

Deadliest Warrior (a bit off topic)

I know this is not the regular UFC Topic but it it is an interesting concept that Spike has. This program uses history, science reserch and the latest in CGI technology to give an fair account on who would survive a battle such as Joan of Arc vs. William the Conqueror, Saddam Hussein vs. Pol Pot, Hannibal vs. Genghis Khan, US Army Rangers vs. North Korean Special Operations Force etc.I find this a cool show to watch.

The UFC has the same reason of thinking of this idea.To put 2 martial artest together in the ring or cage and let them fight it out to see who is the best.Way back when UFC first started back in 1993 you would see a wrestler vs an kung fu master.a brawler vs a boxer,a kick boxer vs an judo expert ect.I kinda like the early days better you would see not only who is the better fighter but you would see which martial arts is the best.I know due to safety regulations they had to do weight classes and the fighters themselves addopts other forms of martial art to improve there chances of winning.

Many fighters now would train in at least 2 forms or fighting skills such as karate or boxing kick boxing or any form or martial art that you use if the opponete wants to stand toe to toe with you and they will pratice in wrestling or judo if the adversary wants to take it to the ground. That todays UFC superstar is cover in the event.

Thats what the tern MMA or mixed martial arts came from well here is my 2 cents for oance but if you want some more info on The Deadliest Warrior go to the spike tv website by clicking the title above.....

UFC Fighters to Wrestle

This artical was written By Eric Cohen, About.com Guide

UFC is the undisputed leader in the world of Mixed Martial Arts. Since their first event in 1993 several of their stars have used their fame there to enter the world of professional wrestling. Recently, Brock Lesnar made the move in the other direction. The following men have fought in both the UFC and for a major American wrestling organization (WWE, WCW, TNA, or ECW). For more information about the world of MMA, make sure to check out the martial arts site on About.com.
Brock Lesnar

© 2008 ZUFFA, LLC.Brock Lesnar is the only WWE Champion to make the move from the squared circle to the octagon. While many mock pro wrestlers as being fake fighters, Lesnar proved to the world that only because someone is a pro wrestler doesn't mean they don't know how to fight. In only his fourth MMA fight, Lesnar won the most prestigious title in the business, the UFC Heavyweight Championship by beating UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture.

Dan Severn
"The Beast" Dan Severn made his first UFC appearance at UFC 4 where he lost in the tournament final to Royce Gracie. By the time he reentered the octagon and won the tournament at UFC 5, he was the holder of the NWA World Championship. Severn won that title from Chris Candido in February 1995. At that time, the belt signified that he was the best independent wrestler in the country. He entered the WWE in 1988 as part of an angle where the NWA invaded the WWE and left the company a year later. His only singles match on PPV was a loss to the Rock during the semi-final round of the 1998 King of the Ring Tournament. His UFC rival, Ken Shamrock, beat the Rock in the final round to win the tournament.
Frank Trigg
In the world of UFC, Trigg is most famous for losing twice to UFC Middleweight Champion Matt Hughes. Trigg appeared in TNA during 2008. He aligned himself with Kurt Angle and eventually had an MMA Match fought under amateur rules against AJ Styles at No Surrender. The match ended in a no contest following an "accidental" low blow from Trigg. The fans hated this match and verbally expressed their displeasure. Trigg hasn't appeared in TNA since.
Ken Shamrock
Ken Shamrock was already a star in the UFC when he appeared as the special guest referee during the classic WrestleMania 13 battle between Steve Austin and Bret Hart. From 1997 - 1999, Shamrock was a successful wrestler in the WWE and won the 1988 King of the Ring tournament, the Intercontinental Championship, and the WWE Tag Team Championship. At the very first TNA event in 2002, Shamrock won a gauntlet match to win the NWA World Championship. That title victory signified the return of the NWA Championship to national prominence.
Paul Varelans
"The Polar Bear" Paul Varelans was a star in UFC during the tournament era of the company. He became the first UFC star to enter the ring for a national wrestling company. In 1996, he fought Taz in the ECW Arena. Varelans lost that match via submission.
Tank Abbott
It only took Tank Abbott 18 seconds to become a fan favorite in the UFC as he knocked out the 400 pound John Matua in that amount of time in his first UFC match at UFC 6. Billed as a pit fighter, Abbott's unique look and attitude seemed to be a perfect fit for the world of wrestling. Abbott joined Ted Turner's WCW in 1999. During his short-time in the world of wrestling, Abbott went from being a tough guy to a comedy act as he became a big fan of the boy-band Three Count. WCW went out of business in early-2001.
Tony Halme (Ludvig Borga)
Tony Halme was better known to wrestling fans as Ludvig Borga. His only UFC match was at UFC 13 which took place on May 30, 1997. He lost to Randy Couture via submission in slightly less than a minute in the semifinal round of the Heavyweight Tournament. That match was also Randy Couture's first MMA match. After leaving both MMA and the world of wrestling, he became a boxer. In 2003, he was elected to Parliament in Finland. He passed away on January 10, 2010, a the age of 47.

2 of UFCs Greats call it Quits

This artical was written by Dave Meltzer

The announced retirement of B.J. Penn, one of only two men in UFC history to have held titles in two different weight classes (lightweight and welterweight), came after he took one of the worst beatings of his career against Nick Diaz. This one was largely unexpected.

While most accept that Filipovic’ career really is over, Penn could be the typical fighter who announces his retirement after a disappointing encounter, only to reconsider later.

“Hats off to Nick Diaz, he’s the man,” said Penn (16-8-2) in the Octagon, moments after losing a 29-28, 29-27 and 29-28 decision to Diaz, a loss that would seem to put an end to Penn’s quest for a third match with longtime rival St. Pierre. “It’s probably the last time you’ll ever see me in here. I want to perform at the top level. This is the end. You know what, I’ve got another daughter on the way, I don’t want to go home looking like this.”

Penn’s face was busted up, particularly his left eye, and he had to be hospitalized after the fight.

Penn, 32, has been considered right at the top of the list of the most complete and most talented fighters in the sport since even before his first fight in 2001. Some would say, judging by his record, that he underachieved considering his insider rep from day one, even with two world titles.

[Related: Two legends retire after disappointing losses]

Saturday’s fight was unfortunately typical of many of Penn’s fights. Once called the best one-round fighter in the world, both meant as a credit to his all-around skill and a knock on his conditioning, Penn once again tired in the second round after a solid first round and was taken apart.

But if this really is his last fight, Penn went out in style. Exhausted, fighting an opponent who was connecting with pinpoint accuracy, he fought back and landed several hard shots in the third round, but he simply couldn’t match the volume of his opponent nor move fast enough to get out of the way of the blows. In the end, while he clearly lost the fight, he also was half of one of the year’s best bouts.

“In the 10 years that we’ve all seen B.J. Penn perform, we’ve never seen B.J. busted up like this,” White said after the fight. “Even when he was getting smashed by Matt Hughes and Georges St. Pierre, he doesn’t bleed and he doesn’t get busted up. Nick Diaz is the real deal. But what a warrior B.J. was to stand in front of him. I honestly didn’t think B.J. was going to answer the bell for the third round as exhausted as he was. And there were moments in the third round he was firing back.”

Filipovic (27-10-2, 1 no contest) looked like the “Cro Cop” of old only twice before the nearly packed house of 10,313 fans, who paid a gate of $3.9 million. The first was during his trademark ring entrance, to the sounds of Duran Duran’s “Wild Boys,” where at 235 pounds, he looked as strong as in his PRIDE days. But once the fight started, it also was clear that while he could carry the size of his youth, he was much slower at 37

MMA vs. TMA: Cage Fighting Vs. Reality Self-Defense

This artical was written by Nicolas Rodriguez, Denver Martial Arts Examiner........

Everyone who sits in front of a television, is really only looking for one thing, is to be entertained, so in speaking of watching MMA events, you are only being entertained, and at your expense, either paying your electric bill, or watching a cage match at an arena.

Watching a boxing or kickboxing match, or a Martial-Arts tournament event, not only it is there to entertain you, but it demonstrates the true spirit of the marital arts or the sport of fighting, which MMA does not demonstrate other than hybrid or modified martial arts.

Athletes compete for the prize, but which type of fighter has the true discipline, of fighting, and knowing the difference from true martial arts from modernized ring fights to only make the real cash, instead of facing the real world at a desk job 8-5 with a college degree making a living with an educated mind?

The Octigon Girls

Arianny Celeste became a UFC Octagon Girl in typical fashion – through a modeling casting call - but ever since she made her debut at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in 2006, life has been anything but typical for Celeste, who saw her first live mixed martial arts fight that summer night in Las Vegas.
“It was nerve racking and kinda scary, but it was really cool,” said Arianny of her first night working for the UFC. “I liked it a lot.”
Since then, this striking Latina has become a fixture at UFC events and a fan favorite. She’s also transformed from a casual fan of MMA to a diehard follower of the sport.

MMA - Then and Now

Here is a great artical about the past and present of the world of MMA written by Stephanie Lum - Hawaii News Now

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - From ultimate fighter reality shows, 'Tap Out' t-shirts, to the rise of BJ Penn, it's hard not to notice the growing popularity of mixed martial arts. Today, millions pay to watch MMA fighters take each other down.

"MMA is blowing up big time. I think it's the fastest growing sport or one of them for sure," said Penn Fitness Center instructor Kaynan Kaku.

Mixed martial arts wasn't always so mainstream. There was a time when you couldn't watch ultimate fighting on TV and a time when the sport that combines boxing, jiu jitsu, kick boxing, wrestling and judo was considered a barbaric blood sport.

The very first ultimate fighting event in Hawaii took place in a dive bar near the Honolulu Airport in 1995. At the old Gussie La Mours, men fought bare fisted, in street clothes, there was no such thing as weight class and no rules.

"It was kind of like this bar room fighting. You had more of the rough neck guys and motorcycle guys showing up in there," said former MMA fighter Egan Inoue.

Promoter T. Jay Thompson called the state's first ultimate fight "No Holds Barred Fighting".

"It became so popular, we did monthly events," said Thompson.

In 1996, Thompson moved the fights to a bigger venue, under a different name: "Superbrawl".

"Vitor Belfort, Frank Shamrock, Pat Militidge, Tim Sylvia, Josh Barnettt, Falaniko Vitale, Kimo Leopoldo, Jason "Mayhem" Miller and Wesley "Cabbage" Correira. These guys all got their start in Superbrawl," said Thompson.

No one captivated the audience and sold out the Blaisdell, however, like Egan Inoue, a local fighter skilled in muy thai, Brazilian jiu jitsu and boxing.

"All the submissions, the chokes and the arm locks that you see. I always compare that to playing chess. You're playing chess with your body," explained Inoue. "When I am doing jiu jitsu, you're setting up moves on someone four or five moves away. So, I move my body this way, you move your body and fall into my game."

Inoue rose to become a five-time "Superbrawl" world champion.

In 2004, another local fighter made headlines. BJ Penn won the UFC welterweight title and later, the lightweight title.

Still, MMA couldn't shake off the images from its violent beginnings and in 2006, Representative Tommy Waters introduced a bill to ban it.

"I'm not sure if there's any socially redeeming qualities in ultimate fighting," said Waters.

Parents raised concerns about kids getting hurt reenacting ultimate fight scenes in makeshift rings. It sparked a debate and those for and against weighed in.

"Mixed martial arts falls for me in the negative, I don't think it falls in the positive," said actor and martial artist Jason Lee. "A lot of the martial arts' traditional sense that gets abandoned in gladiator style competition, is a lot of humility, the ability to cultivate life than to take life and the ability to hurt than to heal."

"To ban a sport like mixed martial arts; that could be the worst thing you could do to all of the kids right now. My gym is a place for kids to go to to stay out of trouble and focus on being the best they can be," said UFC champion BJ Penn.

In the end, MMA survived but was forced to change.

Long gone are the days of fighting bare fisted. Today, fighters are required to wear gloves, and must undergo health screenings and blood tests for HIV and hepatitis. Licensed medical professionals must be at ringside, and starting in July, the state will even begin regulating amateur MMA.

"We'll have a true sanctioning body that will come in, over see it just like it is in Las Vegas and the other states and that will only legitimize the sport," said Thompson.

With the door wide open on MMA, Thompson said the sport is blowing up.

"Now, you're getting Olympic trained athletes, guys from the NFL and the kids are starting to train younger," said Thompson.

There are more local venues giving up and coming fighters a chance to step in the ring and follow in the footsteps of those who came before them.

Inoue is now retired. He teaches martial arts and spreads awareness about MMA in the community. After organizing the first fight in Hawaii 15 years ago, T. Jay Thompson is still promoting fights and is currently working with UFC's President Dana White to one day bring a major UFC event to the Aloha Stadium.

"It could happen if the people of Hawaii pushes for it. Who knows, it could be BJ Penn versus Georges Saint Pierre all over again," said Thompson.

UFC vs. WWE: 10 Things Dana White Could Learn from Vince McMahon

This artical was written by Nick Caron on 8/10/11

Whether UFC President Dana White wants to admit it or not, he and WWE Chairman Vince McMahon compete for a lot of the same audience with their UFC and WWE products. And there is actually quite a bit that White could learn from McMahon.

Now MMA fans, don’t get too irritated before you even begin to read. I’m not trying to say that they are the same thing. Of course they aren’t. The UFC is legitimate competition between two highly trained athletes, while the WWE is simulated competition between two, also highly trained athletes.

But the similarity is that while one comes right out and says it and the other doesn’t, they are both forms of entertainment, generally for a male audience between the ages of 18-35.

For the past few decades, one company has been the king of this demographic. Sure, there may be other sports which have a wider fanbase, but no company has caught the attention of and latched onto this important demographic quite like the WWE has.

Though we recently found out that, according to McMahon, the WWE and UFC are not working together to purchase a television network; there is still a lot that the UFC President could learn from his WWE counterpart.

I would like to see for charity Vence and Dana go at it in the ring or octogon The question is which rules will they go under UFC or WWE? I would thing since the UFC is a real compitition it should go with UFC rules and you should give Vince time to train UFC way.for more info on this artical go to the bleacher report by clicking the title above...

The UFC vs WWE

This is an interesting topic because there are many sub canigories that you can do rating is one of them or you can see wich group would be superior in combat also wich rules will they follow or who is the better president Dana White or Vince Mc Mahon I think I will put more topics on this matter.I have an artical from the Bleacher Reports about the UFC and WWE events. The articals tells on the pros and cons of both organizations in there shows on entertaining there fans. I am a fan of both the UFC and the WWE.I was a big fan of WWE back when Hulk Hogan,Randy Salvage Jake the Snake Roberts and Undertaker domanitated the WWE. I Got into the UFC when it first started back in the 90s.

How times had changed I think for both organizations I liked it better in the early days if you want to learn more about the artical from bleacher go to there website by clicking the title above...

Cris Cyborg: Women's MMA will survive without UFC or Strikeforce

This artical was written by Guilherme Cruz

Strikeforce has just announced a title fight between Cris Cyborg and Hiroko Yamanaka for December 17th in San Diego, CA. In this exclusive interview with Tatame, Cyborg reflects on the state of women's MMA.

Guilherme Cruz: It’ll be your first fight since UFC purchased Strikeforce. What do you think will be different?

Cris Cyborg: I guess that, if there’s something, it’s a better thing. UFC is the biggest MMA event of all, so I’m happy about this fight I’ll be doing in December. It’s a great chance for me, I’ll show my work and put on a good show, open the doors to women. The name’s changed, but it doesn’t matter because I already used to take it seriously, I used to pour my heart out to win. Now the boss has changed, but I’ll keep doing what I used to do before.

GC: Do you feel any kind of pressure due to the fact you’re considered by many as the best pound for pound of the world?

CC: I’ve been winning my fights and that’s the consequence of a hard work done. It’s another important fight in my career, and it’s important because I haven’t fought for like a year now. It’s important to open some doors to female MMA, but I don’t see it as a pressure. I guess it’s a great chance for me to show my work.

GC: People talk about Strikeforce closes next year, especially now UFC is taking the good athletes from it. What do you think they’ll do about the female divisions?

CC: I guess female MMA won’t be extinct. I don’t know if we’ll fight in UFC or not. Everybody’s dream is that it keeps opened, but I guess MMA won’t end if UFC doesn’t want us. Girls will keep on fighting it, training and then will come up an event that will want to give us that chance. It’s on the hands of God and the producers to keep on believing in female MMA, my role is to do what I always do: put on a good show, representing women and fight better and better each time. But I believe that women are getting better and putting on good shows.

What is King of the Cage?

As the brainchild of Terry Trebilcock, King of the Cage first started promoting events almost ten years ago, when mixed martial arts, then known as No Holds Barred (NHB FIGHTING), was on the verge of extinction.

In the following years, Trebilcock would dodge bullets but steadily cultivate the promotion into what is now known as one of the largest MMA institutions in the world.

Today, King of the Cage is available on PPV / In Demand to over 50 million homes in more than 25 countries. KOTC is also viewed on Fox Sports Net, which broadcasts to over 200 million homes. King of the Cage is being aired no less than 178 days per calendar year. Through years of blood, sweat and tears, King of the Cage has proven to be an integral part in the evolution of Mixed Martial Arts. No other production has promoted more fights than King of the Cage.

KOTC has and continues to promote hundreds of shows throughout the world, including 17 of the United States and far-reaching countries such as: England, Singapore, Hong Kong, Canada, and Australia.

King of the Cage has been a career starter and builder for countless stars as: Forrest Griffin, Quinton Rampage Jackson, Rashad Evans, Krazy Horse, Keith Berry, Mac Danzig, Paul Buentello, Urijah Faber, Joe Stevenson, Diego Sanchez, Thiago Alves, as well as legends like Don Frye, Shonie Carter, Dan Severn, and Vernon “Tiger” White.

Sustainability is the key factor in any production, King of the Cage continues to operate because of a multitude of key factors with one of the most important being its allegiance to the fighters and the fans.

King of the Cage is the founding father of not only a Sport, but a Lifestyle!

Genesis of King of the Cage:

In 1998 Trebilcock launched his promotion King of the Cage based out of Fontana, California with his first event on a Tennis court. Terry was given a written class/group project on entrepreneurship which unveiled a man, a vision, and an organization that would prove to be the next wave of sports entertainment that has become one of the leaders of the fastest growing industry in the world.

Terry Trebilcock graduated from Claremont High School in Southern California, and enrolled in Cal. State Fullerton, taking business classes. Throughout his life Terry has had his hand in different business ventures, but one particular opportunity caught his eye about 10 years ago, Mixed Martial Arts.

To get an understanding of what exactly was taking place inside the ring, Terry enrolled himself in a few different martial arts schools, as well as purchasing an instructional series by a MMA legend named Royce Gracie. Trebilcock continued to his own pursuit within the walls of many Inland Empire gyms to figure out how he could become bigger, faster, stronger and technically sound.

King of the Cage is a mixture of several different martial arts, which pits one person's martial arts style versus another. It is a full contact sport, which has slowly but surely made its way to the mainstream public and most importantly into our living rooms everyday

UFC's Brian Foster gets tuneup at Cage Warriors 44, meets vet Jack Mason

This artical was written by Dan Stupp sept,11 2011

Sidelined for a year due to injuries, former UFC welterweight Brian Foster has been officially released from the organization and now meets Jack Mason in a 181-pound catchweight bout at Cage Warriors 44.

Cage Warriors executive Graham Boylan today confirmed the plans with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).

The event takes place Oct. 1 at HMV Forum in London and streams online in North America.

Foster (15-5) vs. Mason (17-8) takes the co-headlining slot.

Earlier this year, Foster was pulled from UFC 129 after doctors discovered a brain hemorrhage, which followed another devastating injury for the fighter: a hard kick to the groin in early March that caused one of his testicles to burst. Doctors were forced to remove it.

Now cleared to fight again, the hard-hitting Foster gets a big test in his "tuneup" with submission specialist Mason, who recently was featured in our "Fight Path" series. The English middleweight is 16-4 since an early-career four-fight losing streak.

Real Steel is a REAL GOOD MOVIE!!

I really enjoyed this movie.its like MMA meets Transformers. The movie Guy thought it was Over the Top and Rocky because it had a father bonding with his son theme to it.It has alot of action and the Fighting Robots were cool. Here is the over view of the movie.

.A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near-future, where the sport of boxing has gone hi-tech, “Real Steel” stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots

Rampage Jackson: A Switch to BOXING – UFC SHOCKER

The artical was by Geno McGahee

After a loss to Jon Jones, the popular MMA brawler, Rampage Jackson, is planning a move from mixed martial arts to boxing. He told ESPN that he may make the shift over and that boxers would stand toe to toe with him and wouldn’t “fight scared.”
Jackson is 33 years old and the transition from sport to sport isn’t always a smooth one. Most boxers that make their way into the cage end up losing quickly and vice versa. They are two different beasts, but Jackson has charisma and will be matched lightly like Kimbo Slice and will get some wins before risking it. It’s a safe bet that we will see him in the boxing ring in the near future.

Mabe this is one of the reasons why Dana White is so upset with the Boxing Comission.Mabe he should try a stragity to get well known boxers from the from the Boxing commisssion to join the UFC roster. Just a thought. For more info go to Ring Stot website by clicking the title above...

Bellator 56 is scheduled for October 29th at Memorial Hall in Kasas City, Kansas.

Follow @MMANation on Twitter, and Like MMA Nation on Facebook.

Sep 29, 2011 - A day has been set for Jay Hieron's long-awaited date in the cage with Bellator welterweight champion Ben Askren. According to reports from MMA Junkie, the pair will clash on October 29th in Kasas City at Bellator 56.

The event is also slated to hold the semi-finals of season five's heavyweight tournament, per reports from Sherdog. The tournament's opening round is planned for October 1st and features Mark Holata vs. Ron Sparks, Neil Grove vs. Mike Hayes, Blagoi Ivanov vs. Thiago Santos, and Eric Prindle vs. Abe Wagner.

With the announcement, Askren (8-0) is scheduled to defend his title for the first time since claiming it with a five-round decision victory over Lyman Good, earned by his run to the top of season two's welterweight tournament. A two-time NCAA Division I national wrestling champion and a 2008 U.S. Olympian, the 27-year-old has maintained an unblemished record since transitioning into mixed martial arts in 2009. Askren last fought in April at Bellator 40, where he soundly defeated Nick Thompson in a three-round non-title affair.

Across the cage, Hieron (22-4) finally gets the title shot he earned after emerging victorious from season four's welterweight tournament. The 35-year-old Strikeforce and UFC veteran has been on a roll of late, having won ten straight fights since 2007. In total, he holds several notable performances throughout his nine-year career, including victories over Pat Healy, Joe Riggs, and UFC welterweight contender Jake Ellenberger, as well a tough loss to UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre.

Will there be another MMA Fighter in Dancing with the Stars

Chuck Liddell joined the cast of Dancing with the Stars several seasons back. This was a big risk wondering what the UFC/MMA world would think. In my opinion it done some good for him.Giving MMA fighters another demention that they are more then just fighters in the Otcogon they they can do other things as well.

Will there be another UFC superstar who will join the cast like a silva or Jackson?Time will only tell how about Dana White? I would pay to see this.I khow lately in the MMA news he had made some disisions that people thought was questionable at best.

WWE's CM Punk Calls Triple H's Comments on MMA 'Insane'

This artical was written by By Ray Hui September 22 2011 Last updated at 08:55 AM ET

WWE pro wrestler CM Punk strongly disagrees with WWE executive senior advisor and on-screen "COO" Triple H's remarks in a recent Moviefone interview where he stated, "I don't think we (the WWE and pro wrestling) have to evolve" and "if anybody needs to evolve, it's [the UFC]."

The 32-year-old Punk, one of the most popular pro wrestlers today and a longtime MMA fan, appeared on this past Monday's The MMA Hour and explained that although Triple H's comments might be the WWE's corporate stance, that's not the case with him.

"Triple H just doesn't get mixed martial arts. he doesn't watch it either," said Punk. "Saying the UFC needs to evolve, I guess he's not wrong, but I think he's missing the picture that UFC is evolving. There's only one other sport entity in the world that has production rights to their own material on network and that's the NFL. UFC has just bartered a huge deal [with FOX]. That's evolution."

Further, Punk made it clear he shared a completely different opinion from Triple H's comment that the WWE does not need to evolve.

"I think that's absolutely insane," Punk said. "Any human being, any business, any sport needs to constantly evolve. I'm not a big football guy, but look at the NFL, they're constantly evolving -- whether it's good or it's bad, they're evolving. And if you don't evolve, you die."

WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon has stated over the years that UFC is not a competition to the WWE. However, consistently strong UFC pay-per-view buys and tumbling WWE numbers would state otherwise. Punk believes fans can enjoy both products, but it would be impractical to say both products aren't competition for the consumer's time and money.

"I wouldn't say [MMA has] 'hurt' us, I think that might be a little harsh of a term, but to deny that UFC is our competition is a little ridiculous," Punk explained. "Cirque du Soleil is our competition. Mad Men and Breaking Bad is our competition . I think everything that people spend their time on and their money on is our competition and to blatantly say that mixed martial arts has no barring on what's good or bad in our business, is silly; it's close-minded. You're putting a band-aid on a gunshot wound."

In a relatable way that the UFC went through and is still continuing an education process to explain many of the basic elements of the sport and overcome negative preconceptions to the unconverted, that's perhaps what the WWE execs need, according to Punk.

"Pro wrestling as a whole in my opinion has a lot to do to get to where I would like it to go," Punk said. "I think the people who discredit mixed martial arts in pro wrestling have very antiquated ideas and honestly, I think it's an education thing. I've had many conversations with Triple H about mixed martial arts, and he just doesn't get it. "

In that same regard, Punk finds humor in the way people have come to embrace or reject professional wrestling.

"It's funny, because pro wrestling many people don't get, and there's an old saying, "Pro wrestling is religion. They're very similar in regards that if you're trying to explain to somebody who doesn't get it, there is no explanation that will get them to get it. But someone who gets it, there is no explanation needed. It's just very black and white.

On the business end, whether MMA purists would admit it or not, the UFC has followed and expanded on WWE's early business models. On the most basic level, both have television shows to drive interest in selling pay-per-views and what the UFC and WWE are in essence -- entertainment-based products. And with that, there's only so much money to go around for everyone.

"UFC is entertainment. WWE is entertainment," Punk said. "And regards to people spending their money on it. It's definitely a competition. I think the way things are in our economy, there's a billion pay-per-views between UFC, [other MMA pay-per-views] and the WWE, we're competing for each other's dollars, absolutely."

For all the Adsence Users out there

Here is an interesting letter from Google.

bodyHi,

Since releasing the new AdSense interface to all publishers, we've been continuously working to improve and support the new version. With that in mind, we're writing to let you know that we'll soon be retiring the old AdSense interface and asking all publishers to use the new interface.

If you haven’t already, we recommend switching to the new interface as soon as possible to familiarize yourself with the updated layout and new features. To do so, sign in and click the 'Try the new AdSense interface' link in the upper corner of your account. We understand that this adjustment may take some time, so you'll still be able to toggle back and forth between the old and new interfaces during the coming weeks. You'll see another notification in your account as we approach the date when this option will no longer be available.

As a reminder, the new AdSense interface offers additional insights in the form of detailed graphs and reports, new ad blocking controls, and increased efficiency through a visual redesign. We’ve now added many of your top-requested features -- including the ability to create scheduled reports and view channels on the Home tab. We encourage you to watch our video tutorials at http://www.youtube.com/user/InsideAdSense#g/c/B067D355E59D96E0, which will guide you through completing common tasks in your account. You can also find detailed information in our Help Center for the new interface (http://www.google.com/adsense/support/as/).

With this transition, we'll be able to focus on building new and improved features into the new interface more quickly. Thank you for your support, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation.

Sincerely,

The Google AdSense Team

UFC allows questionable music choices at UFN 25

This artical was written by Maggie Hendricks

One of the fun parts of a live UFC event is the way fighters use music to pump up as they walk out to the Octagon, but two fighters made questionable choices in their walkout songs at Ultimate Fight Night 25. Those bad decisions were then repeated by UFC president Dana White, who approves every song that is used by fighters.

Ken Stone, who won via submission, walked out to the Prodigy song, "Smack My Bitch Up." The song repeats two lines, "Smack my bitch up, change my pitch up." When it was released in 1997, it was protested by women's groups as condoning violence towards women. MTV only allowed the song to be played late at night, and Wal-Mart and K-Mart pulled the CD from its stores. Prodigy released a statement that the song was not about violence, but that's not apparent from its lyrics.

The next bad decision was when Matt Riddle walked out to the Scorpions song, "Rock You Like a Hurricane." In most cities, it's the perfect song to walk out to, but these fights took place in New Orleans. That's a city that was literally rocked by a hurricane in 2005. Hurricane Katrina's effects are still being felt in New Orleans, as they struggle to restore their population and status as a tourist destination to pre-Katrina levels.

Jon Jones and Rampage Jackson appear side by side on "Jimmy Kimmel Live"

This artical was written by Joey Santosus on September 20, 2011, 10:15 AM CDT

UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon "Bones" Jones, alongside current number-one contender Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, appeared together on the set of ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live Monday night to promote their upcoming title clash. Unsurprisingly, the majority of their appearance was spent exchanging verbal jabs, as each fighter assured victory ahead of this Saturday night's stacked UFC 135 fight-card.

Jones vs. Rampage will headline the event, set to go down September 24th from the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado. In addition to the Light Heavyweight showdown, also featured will be a Welterweight bout between former division champ Matt Hughes and Josh Koscheck, as well as a Heavyweight tilt pitting rising contender Travis Browne against the U.K.'s Rob Broughton.

How to Become a Cage Fighter

A "cage fighter" is a Mixed-Martial-Arts (MMA) fighter who sometimes fights in a cage (or octagon, or a boxing ring in Pride). The fighter wins by knocking out, or putting the opponent in a submission hold by which the opponent gives up, or "taps", or by decision.

The phases of a fight usually involve punching and kicking, the clinch, sometimes stand-up grappling, then a take down and ground grappling. Here you'll learn what it takes to become a cage fighter.]

Top 20 Submission Moves In MMA

this artical was written by Robert Rousseau, ExtremeProSports.com

Neck Crank - This submission can be applied when a person is in a dominant position (mount or side mount). It involves pulling or twisting the head farther than it should go with two arms. Not really a choke, but better suited here than anywhere else.

North-South Choke - The performer must be on top in the north- south position to apply this hold. From there the performer cuts off the flow of blood to the neck with his or her bicep. This hasn't been extremely effective in mixed martial arts, primarily because few mixed martial artists end up in the north - south position and it's a slow working submission.

Thus it gives fighters too much time to get out.

Rear Naked Choke - The performer must have access to their opponent's back to pull this off. From there they curl one arm around the their neck, bicep against one side of the neck, forearm against the other. Then the performer tugs it close and place the hand of the choking arm on the bicep of their other arm as that arm comes up behind the opponent's head and touches their hair. Last, the applier tucks their head, expands their chest, and squeezes.

Oftentimes MMA fighters use their legs as 'hooks' for leverage. To see a great example of this popular MMA move, check out Matt Hughes versus Frank Trigg I.

Triangle Choke - This move was made famous by Royce Gracie in an early MMA bout against Dan Severn. While in the guard, the performer traps an arm and extends their opposite side leg across their opponent's neck so that it lands on the other side of the combatant's body. Then their other leg crosses over that leg to tighten the hold.

In effect, this choke traps an opponent's neck in a triangle utilizing the perfomer's leg and their opponent's own arm.

Arm Locks

Americana - A lateral keylock (see keylock below).

Arm Bar (from guard) - Perhaps the most utilized of all mixed martial arts submission holds. The performer traps an arm with one hand and uses their other hand to hold that opponent close (oftentimes by grabbing the shoulder or neck). Next they open their guard, pivot or crunch in the direction opposite of the arm they've isolated, and climb the leg opposite the trapped arm up their opponent's back. At the same time, they make a small loop around their opponent's neck with their other leg. With both hands on the isolated arm, the performer lifts their hips and pulls the caught arm in while pressing out with their legs.

To see an example of this, one need only look to Fedor Emelianenko's recent victory over Mark Coleman in PRIDE's first American contest.

Armbar (from the mount) - The performer isolates an arm with their own opposite side arm. As they do this, they may choose to put pressure on their opponent's neck with their free arm. Then the performer grabs the isolated arm with both hands, comes up to a squat, and pivots around clockwise (if isolating their opponent's right arm) or counterclockwise (left arm), eventually ending up perpendicular to their opponent.

Finally, the performer's legs pinch the isolated arm and they fall back into an armbar.

Keylock - Generally, one needs side mount to pull this submission off. Once side mount is achieved, the performer grabs their opponent's wrist with their near hand and reaches under that arm with their free hand, grabbing their own forearm. The performer then forces the elbow upwards.

Kimura (from the guard) - The performer grips their opponent's hand, opens their guard, pushes off the hips of their opponent, and sits up. Then with their free hand they reach over and through the arm they've isolated to grab their own wrist. Finally, keeping that arm away from their opponent's body, the performer attempts to touch the back of the trapped hand to their opponent's head.

Omoplata - From the guard, the performer places one leg under the opponent's armpit and turns toward that leg, thereby catching their opponent's arm. By pushing the arm away from the back, terrible pressure is put on the shoulder. Sometimes, depending on the emphasis put on the leg, an elbow can also be harmed.

'Workout From Hell' Puts Fat To The Flames

this artical was written by ThePostGame Staff I posted this artical Because it seens like you get a fine work out with out paying alot of money on gym equiptment.....

"It's medieval and unbelievable." That's how fitness expert David Jack describes this "barbell complex" -- five exercises strung together to create one serious fat-loss routine. "It's a metabolic nightmare for your body, but in a good way," says Jack, a Men’s Health advisor and director of fitness at TeamWorks in Acton, Massachusetts.

Here at Men's Health, we don't actually call it a complex. We call it the workout from Hell. Try it just once and you'll no doubt agree: It incinerates fat and lights your muscles on fire. It may even leave you begging for mercy. (And if you really like tough workouts, make sure to try The Ultimate Fitness Challenge.)

Here’s how it works: You first put weight on the barbell. That's normal. But once you pick the barbell up, you never put it down, using the same weight to perform 5 consecutive exercises: the deadlift, straight-leg deadlift, barbell row, jump shrug, and hang clean. Watch the video below to see exactly how to do the routine.

The key: Choose your weight for all the exercises based on what you use for either the barbell row or the hang clean. These are the exercises in which you'll be the weakest. While this may seem too light when you start the routine, you'll quickly understand how challenging it can be. Do 8 reps of each exercise, then rest for 90 seconds. That’s one round. Try doing three to four rounds. This can be a workout on its own, or you can use it as “cardio” training at the end of your regular weight workout. (For more super-simple, fat-loss routines, check out the Fastest Cardio Workouts Ever.)

Brock Lesnar vs. Alistair Overeem Set for Year-End UFC Show

this artical was writter by Michal David Smith on September 6 2011 Last updated at 03:40 PM ET
Shortly after signing his UFC contract, Overeem told the Los Angeles Times that he's excited about the challenge of meeting Lesnar in the cage.

"Brock is a big name, a dangerous guy, and this is a dream matchup," Overeem said. "Brock's a big guy, an exciting wrestler with his takedowns. I want to see this fight myself. Overall, I'm a different fighter. A striker, athletic, big. These are going to be two big trucks going at it on a collision course."

Overeem's path to the UFC has been a strange one: When the UFC purchased Strikeforce, it seemed like only a matter of time before Overeem would step into the Octagon. But a contract dispute between UFC/Strikeforce parent company Zuffa and Overeem's management at Golden Glory led to Overeem being released by the company. Those issues, however, have obviously been resolved, and Overeem is now set to fight in the world's biggest MMA promotion for the first time.

Lesnar, meanwhile, has been out of action for nearly a year while recovering from diverticulitis. White recently said that Lesnar is 100 percent healthy, and Lesnar is apparently ready to start a training camp to meet Overeem.

The fight itself is a fascinating contrast of styles. Overeem may be the best striker in the heavyweight division, and Lesnar has struggled with his striking defense in his last couple of fights. But Overeem has never faced a wrestler nearly as good as Lesnar, and the muscular Overeem, who has grown accustomed to overpowering his opponents, also hasn't faced anyone as strong as Lesnar.

Lesnar vs. Overeem should be a sensational fight and an enormous pay-per-view draw. Combining that fight with heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez taking on Junior dos Santos on Fox in November, the UFC is positioning itself for some huge heavyweight attractions ahead.
