UFC Cage Fighting
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Cage Fighting dates back to ancient Greece as a featured favorite competition at the Olympic Games of Athens and more than eight decades ago Brazil lent its own influence on this sport with competitions known as vale tudo, or "anything goes" extreme fighting competitions. This combination of various martial arts forms, boxing, kickboxing, wresting as well as other forms of fighting inspired by the ancient Greek Olympic Games and the Brazilian vale tudo, led to the official formation of the world renowned Ultimate Fighting Championships sports association representing mixed martial arts in 2001, by Zuffa, LLC.
UFC cage fighting is an extreme fighting sport to say the least. It takes many years of hard core strength and conditioning training, preparation, and determination to be a competitive fighter. The sport has an extensive fan base from around the world, many of those fans traveling great distances to attend UFC cage fighting events. The fan base for UFC cage fighting continues to grow as UFC sport fighting events are widely telecast in live and delayed, pay-per-view telecasts and the association puts a lot of money towards providing world-wide broadcasting links and creative advertising campaigns behind its promoting of UFC cage fighting
So what modes of fighting do the professional fighters thrill fans with? Boxing, judo, kickboxing, karate, jiu-jitsu, capoeira, wrestling and moves you would commonly associate with street fighting are all used to entertain the fans. States such as Florida, Massachusetts, Nevada and New Jersey all use the same approved scoring system to award points to competitors that ultimately decides who the winner of the fight is. Points are awarded for contact blows made with the hands, elbows, knees, and feet, and for submission moves such as choke holds, knockdowns and for tossing a challenger about the ring.
With UFC cage fighting being such an extreme fighting sport you might easily assume that serious injuries would be a normal occurrence among fighting competitors, however, not a single instance of serious injury to a professional UFC cage fighter has been documented since its inception in 2001. This I believe is a result of the fact that UFC cage fighters are hard core trained fighters and the industry is also hard core in providing the greatest safety possible for fighters competing in cage fighting events. Safety is a priority in everything from the design and structure of the uniquely UFC, octagon shaped fighting rings to the canvas, padding, and fencing materials used, rules of engagement such as no head butting, or groin or throat striking, weight classes and timed bouts, to safety restrictions the fighters themselves must abide by in order to compete.

Five the Hard Way – Lesnar Rises from Brink to Submit Carwin
This artical is by Thomas Gerbasi
LAS VEGAS, July 3 – For a few minutes in the first round of the UFC 116 main event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena Saturday night, it looked like the heavy hands of Shane Carwin were going to forcibly remove the UFC heavyweight title from the grasp of Brock Lesnar. But with an amazing show of heart and resilience, and a chin of steel, Lesnar survived the first round and then closed the show in the second with a submission victory that kept the belt around the waist of the premier heavyweight in the game today. The Ultimate Fighter: Team Liddell vs. Team Ortiz
The Ultimate Fighter: Team Liddell vs. Team Ortiz (also known as The Ultimate Fighter: Team Liddell vs. Team Franklin for the final episode of the season) was the eleventh installment of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)-produced reality television series The Ultimate Fighter. The show began taping in early 2010[2] and premiered on Spike on March 31, 2010.[1] The live finale of the show is scheduled for June 19, 2010.[3][4]
The UFC and Spike TV held open tryouts on October 26, 2009, in Los Angeles, California. The casting call went out for middleweight and light heavyweight fighters. Fighters wanting to try out for the show must have been at least 21 years old and have had a professional MMA record.[3] 300 fighters showed up to the tryouts including UFC veterans Jason Lambert,[5] Nick Thompson and Logan Clark,[2] International Fight League and EliteXC veteran Wayne Cole,[5] as well as season 1 TUF competitor and former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Bobby Southworth.[2] In addition to the open tryouts, the UFC also accepted applications available through its website until November 9, 2009.[6]
During The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights Finale, Dana White announced that the coaches would be Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell. White also announced that the fighters for this season would compete in the middleweight weight class. The season will feature 28 fighters as opposed to the usual 16 or 32. The series boasts a new "wildcard" format in which the two coaches will pick two fighters who lost their preliminary bouts to face each other for the eighth spot in the quarter-finals.[

UFC 115 WHAT A NIGHT!!
All in all UFC 115 turned out to be one of the better pay per views, living up to all the hype.2 out of the 3 major fight lasted to the final round. It wasn,t a good night for Chuck Liddell getting knocked out in the first round by Franklin some question,is this the end for the former light heavey weight champion? Time can only tell Another exciting matchup was with Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic and Pat Barry,Filipovic won his heavyweight war with Barry late in the third round when he put a rear naked choke in the final 30 seconds of the last round in the fight.check out yahoo sports for complete updates on UFC 115 by going to yahoo or clicking the title above.....

Evans decisions Jackson in UFC 114 main event
Evans won a unanimous decision over Quinton “Rampage” Jackson in the main event of UFC 114 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, getting scores of 30-27 twice and 29-28 from the judges. Yahoo! Sports also had it 30-27 for Evans. The win gets him a shot at the UFC light heavyweight title against champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.
Both former light heavyweight champions, Evans was far faster than Jackson and used his speed to avoid Jackson’s vaunted punching power. Only once in the fight did Jackson mount any sustained offense, when he landed a combination and then some shots on the ground. For more info go to the yahoo sports website by clicking the title above.....
Evans landed a big overhand right to start the fight that sent Jackson back to the cage, but they spent much of the round grappling against the cage.
Evans, a wrestler at Michigan State, took Jackson down several times and never allowed him to get into the fight.

Don King VS the MMA
It seemed the the boxing premoter is upset and does not want Ricardo Mayorga a former boxing champ to step into the world of the MMA. King is worried if Mayorga gets hurt in fighting then he will not be able to premorm his duties in the boxing world. This is one way of looking at this.I would think this will do a world of good for the boxing world especiallt if he would get a victory over the MMA fighter. there are other people from different sports who joined the UFC.If you want more infomation on this matter go to Yahoo sports by clicking the title above.....

KIMBO SLICE FIRED THATS CRAZY!!!
Dana White ,President of the UFC fired Kimbo Slice from the UFC for not living up to the UFC standers. The loss to Matt Mitrione was the last straw, in my opinion this was wrong for the Mr White to do a 4-2 record is not the best but other fighters had poor records as well. Kimbo should have got more training in grappling or jujitsu to improve his ground game but to let him go after 2 fights is crazy in my opinion.Kim bo Slice is very popular on the Internet an I believe that this decision made by the President Dana White will hurt him in the future for more info click the title above......

Silva DISCRACES Himself in the main event
It seems that Anderson Silva made a mochery of the main event when he thought Demian disrespected him at the pre fight interviews saying that he was going to break his arm. Instead of making Maia eat his words in the first round Silva was acting like a fool and made this the worse UFC main event in history. Silva won by scores of 50-45, 50-45 and 49-46 but the fans were angry on the quality of the main event.White the president of the UFC was so upset that he walk out before the main event was over. The UFC is competing with other organizations such as WWE and TNA for main events on cabel TV so they better have outstanding main events and not like the dog and pony show that took place yesterday for more check out this artical from Yahoo.

LAS VEGAS – Randy Couture has held the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s heavyweight title three times and its light heavyweight title twice.
After a dominant submission victory over Mark Coleman in a battle of Hall of Fame fighters on Saturday in the main event of UFC 109 at Mandalay Bay, Couture may be nearing yet another light heavyweight title shot.
He dominated Coleman with his boxing in the first round, punched his way to a takedown in the second round and then finished Coleman at 1:09 with a rear naked choke To read the rest of this fine artical click the title above......

SOMETHING FROM YAHOO!
Football legend's daring first fight A buffed Herschel Walker makes his long-awaited MMA debut against a novice 21 years his junior.
SUNRISE, Fla. – Herschel Walker, the 1982 Heisman Trophy winner, won his professional mixed martial arts debut on Saturday at the tender age of 47, but he proved one thing: He’s a better football player than a fighter.
The one-time Dallas Cowboys star stopped a totally ineffective Greg Nagy at 2:17 of the third round on Saturday at the BankAtlantic Center on a Showtime-televised Strikeforce card.
Walker took Nagy down in each of the three rounds and tried to punish Nagy on the ground. He landed a few punches and seemed as if he were going to go for a submission at several points, but he was unable to do anything dramatic.

House of Pain
Mixed Martial Arts,The History....
Mixed martial arts (MMA) is a full contact combat sport that allows a wide variety of fighting techniques, from a mixture of martial arts traditions and non-traditions, to be used in competitions. The rules allow the use of striking and grappling techniques, both while standing and on the ground. Such competitions allow martial artists of different backgrounds to compete.
The roots of mixed martial arts can be traced back to various mixed style contests that took place throughout Europe, Japan and the Pacific Rim during the early 1900s. Modern MMA competition emerged in 1993 with the founding of the Ultimate Fighting Championships, although professional MMA events had been held in Japan by Shooto starting back in 1989. Originally organized with the intention of finding the most effective martial arts for real unarmed combat situations, competitors were pitted against one another with minimal rules for safety.[1] Later promoters adopted many additional rules aimed at increasing safety for competitors and to promote mainstream acceptance of the sport.[2]
The name mixed martial arts was coined by one of the developers of these rules, Jeff Blatnick; a former Greco-Roman wrestler, Olympic gold medalist and UFC commentator. [3] Following these changes, the sport has seen increased popularity with pay per view reach rivaling boxing and professional wrestling. This artical was written by Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia to find out more go to Wikipedia the free encyclopedia website by clicking the title above......

Here is yet another website that has news on UFC,MMA,WEC and more. Henderson defended a double-leg takedown in the third round by applying an arm-in guillotine choke to force a quick tap out at two minutes and 41 seconds.
"As soon as I couldn't get my hands under there [to defend]," Varner said. "I knew I was done."
It was a tough loss for Varner, who returning after a year-long absence, was winning the fight until he was caught in the choke. Varner, a former UFC lightweight, was the stronger fighter and the aggressor against the interim champ.
"I came to fight, Ben was the better man," Varner said. "Caught me in the guillotine. He had a strong guillotine. I wanted to box, he wanted to kick. S--t happens."

Frank Gomez forced out of WEC 46; Wagnney Fabiano waits on new opponent
This artical was brought to you by MMAjunkie.com Staff on Dec 29, 2009 at 7:15 pm ET
Greg Jackson's MMA-trained bantamweight Frank Gomez (8-1 MMA, 2-1 WEC) has suffered an undisclosed injury in training and has been forced to withdraw from a planned bout at WEC 46 bout with Wagnney Fabiano (12-2 MMA, 2-1 WEC).
News of the injury was first reported by "The MMA Show" with Mauro Ranallo, and MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has since confirmed the change with sources close to the promotion.
Fabiano is expected to remain on the card, though a replacement opponent has not yet been secured.
Featuring a lightweight title unification match between dual champs Jamie Varner and Benson Henderson, WEC 46 takes place Jan. 10 at ARCO Arena in Sacramento, Calif. The main card airs live on Versus.
After suffering a submission loss to Scott Jorgensen in his WEC debut – the lone loss of his nine-fight professional career – Gomez was seeking to build on a two-fight win streak. Gomez earned a unanimous-decision win over Seth Dikun at November's WEC 44 event, as well as a submission win over Noah Thomas at June's "WEC 41: Brown vs. Faber II."
Six of Gomez's eight career wins have come by stoppage. The three-time WEC veteran relies on a strong wrestling base built over a lifetime of competing in the sport that includes a brief stint at San Francisco State University, a Division II program.
