Amateur mixed martial arts fighting returns to Davidson Fitness Center at 6:30 p.m., March 6, with Cage of Honor 37.
For those who haven’t seen a Cage of Honor event, get ready for a sport that mixes multiple fighting disciplines.
“It’s part boxing, part wrestling, part kickboxing — it’s very energetic,” said LoraLee Neubeck, Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation Special Events Team member.
Fans who have seen Cage of Honor can expect a high level of competition, with five title fights on the line — along with a match that’s completely new for Fort Leonard Wood.
“We’re going to have a female fight, which is something they haven’t seen before,” said Aron Boswell, Cage of Honor owner.
“We have female fighters in the 140-pound weight class. They’re actually tougher than the men. Guys will get in the ring and circle each other four or five times. The female fighters just attack — they’ll just knock the crap out of each other. We’ve had several good (all-female) fights in the past, and once you’ve seen one, you’re going to want to see another one,” Boswell said.
One of the goals of the Cage of Honor organization is to give aspiring mixed-martial arts competitors an opportunity to showcase their skills. All the fighters involved in the Cage of Honor are amateurs, with several fighters hailing from the mid-Missouri area. Audiences can view the fight card online at fightforhonor.com
