UFC boss remains a Griffin supporter, thanks expecting dad for taking UFC 134 fight

RIO DE JANEIRO – Following Forrest Griffin's devastating loss to fellow former champ Mauricio "Shogun" Rua at Saturday night's UFC 134 event, it was fairly evident that words were not going to console him.

So UFC president Dana White did the next best thing: He gave him a ride home.

Griffin who just moments before the evening's post-event press conference received a surprise announcement that his wife was ready to give birth to their daughter some nine days early, didn't make excuses for his performance. But White said he understood completely and wanted to get him back to Las Vegas ASAP.

RIO DE JANEIRO – As impossible as it may seem for a man most consider to be one of the greatest heavyweights in MMA history, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira's UFC 134 win over Brendan Schaub may have been the single most important victory of his career.

You see, that's the win that allowed him to keep fighting.

While "Minotauro" remains adamant that retirement from the sport never crossed his mind despite a few recent setbacks, UFC president Dana White admitted he was already prepared to have "the talk" with the MMA legend.
