UFC News UFC 148 Fan Expo Diary, Day 1 In Las Vegas
This artical was written by Adam Guillen Jr. on Jul 7, 9:30a
Before Anderson Silva attempts to defend his title for the second time against Chael Sonnen tonight (July 7, 2012) at UFC 148, which goes down at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, the UFC Fan Expo kicked off yesterday (July 6, 2012) in full force.
Hundreds upon hundreds (if not thousands) of mixed martial arts (MMA) fans hit the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino to enjoy the festivities and a chance to meet and have their picture taken with their favorite combat sports fighters or have their favorite memorabilia item signed to display in their homes.
A Who's Who of top MMA stars from both the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and Strikeforce ranks were in attendance. Chuck Liddell, Heavyweight champ Junior dos Santos, Cain Velasquez, Wanderlei Silva and Ronda Rousey, just to name a few, were on hand signing autographs and smiling for the cameras until their cheekbones tapped out ( cheesy, I know).
Aside from all the top MMA stars on hand, hundreds of vendors were on hand displaying their latest products ranging from the latest nutritional craze from BSN and your favorite MMA apparel such as Bad Boy and Tapout.
I was on hand, which would be my third expo, first as a media member, to take in all the action and the atmosphere was electric and buzzing ahead of this weekend's much-anticipated title fight between "The Spider" and "The American Gangster."
Follow me after the jump to see what went down on day one of the UFC Fan Expo from "Sin City."
Prices to get into the expo ranged from $40 all the way up to $2,500 if you wanted to splurge for the Ultimate UFC VIP Package, which included a one hour head start from the rest of the fans, as well as a straight shot to the front of the lines that could save you hours of standing and waiting just to get a photo op as well as the chance to hang on the VIP lounge with UFC stars.

Why in the Hell Did You Go and Start Yet Another Supplement Company?
I've been grappling my whole life. In the Midwest where I grew up, wrestling is a part of the culture so I started competing at a very young age and stayed with it throughout school. When I moved to New England years ago I got involved in coaching youth wrestling here. The skill of the athletes and the strength of the programs just continues to grow year after year.
It was after a wrestling practice that I got my first taste of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu when a friend dragged me kicking and screaming to class. (I really didn't want to put on a gi!) I got choked out about 20 times, and I've never stopped training since that day.
In 43 years my body has seen more than its share of abuse from grappling, football, the United States Marine Corps, and just general hard living. I've had more breaks, tears, and contusions than I can count. But I still love to train, and I want to keep going till I'm at least 80.
As I get older, I've discovered that I need to work on improving my diet in order to keep training. I'd never worried about it when I was young (other than for cutting weight before a meet.) But now if I eat poorly my body takes too long to recover.
Once I got interested in eating better, I started to study and learn everything I could about nutrition and supplementation. While working on the BJJ Weekly newsletter I had access to some of the top experts in nutrition, training, and competing in the grappling world, and I wrote a number of articles on nutrition and training.
I started Q5 Labs because I felt there was a need in the market for a specialized supplement company that wasn't just selling "Get Huge in a Can" to naive 20 year old kids who believe every before and after picture they see in a muscle magazine. I knew there must be other guys out there who want to keep training at a high level but need the nutritional support that I need, without all the hype and bullshit. And I know you want to be a good fighter and stay healthy, and you want to keep training as long as you possibly can.
Q5 Labs was started with several core ideas that we take very seriously:
We believe in being honest with our customers.
We believe in helping our customers maximize their enjoyment of a healthy and active lifestyle.
We believe that the long term health of our customers is more important than short term performance gains or short term profits.
We believe in being financially rewarded in exchange for improving our customer's lives.
We believe in using both modern science and natural resources when developing products.
We believe in ongoing testing for efficacy and safety.
We believe in utilizing the highest quality ingredients and suppliers available to us.
We believe in local manufacturing whenever possible.
We believe in using pure ingredients and avoiding artificial flavors, preservatives, colors or sweeteners whenever possible.
So if you're looking for a supplement company that takes it's products and its responsibility to customers very seriously, but still wants to have fun and kick a little ass, and you're not some 20 year old juice monkey looking to bulk and impress the skanky chicks at a local club, then I just might have something for you.
Stay Alpha -

UFC And MMA In 2012: Four Big Fights To Expect In The New Year
This artical was written By Luke Thomas - MMA Senior Editor MMA,SB Nation
Jan 1, 2012 - If 2011 was the year of change and transition - new champions took their throne and the UFC signed a blockbuster, seven-year deal with the Fox Media Company - then 2012 promises to be a year of building on these new relationships. We can always expect big fights, but in this new UFC-Fox world, the stakes are higher, the rewards are bigger, the platforms even larger and the challenges as great as they've ever been in the sport.
Here are four fights to watch out for in 2012 that could change the face of the divisions in which they take place and help define the trajectory of mixed martial arts as well as the UFC for years to come.

Century Fighting Championship Brings MMA Action to New Hampshire
Mixed Martial Arts action returns to the ICENTER in Salem, New Hampshire, for the first time in over 2 years with several featured fights that will give fans the opportunity to see some well-known Stars of MMA; a couple possibly for the final time.
SALEM, N.H., Feb. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Fans of MMA action in New Hampshire will be pleased to know that Century fighting championship is holding an event at the ICENTER in Salem, NH, on March 31st, 2012. The Main Event pits 15-time UFC veteran Marcus "The Irish Hand Grenade" Davis against 2-time Bellator fighter Matt Sung Lee. The Massachusetts resident Lee is coming off of a "Fight of the Night" win in November over veteran Tiawan Howard, following a bloody battle at Bellator with Ben Saunders. The Maine native Davis is coming off of his first loss in 4 fights, following his UFC release; dropping a close decision to UFC/TUF 13 cast member Chuck O'Neil.
In the Co-Main Event, UFC veteran Dan "The Upgrade" Lauzon takes on 1xStrikeforce fighter Don Carlo-Clauss. Carlo-Clauss is a member of New York's Team BombSquad with UFC's Christian Morecraft and Bellator's Rene Nazare and holds a win over M1 fighter Joshua Thorpe and 12-2 New England prospect Calvin Kattar. He's coming off of a dominate 2nd round TKO win over John Ortoloni in January. 20-fight veteran Lauzon has rattled off 4 wins in a row since his release from the UFC, including first round stoppages in his last 3 bout. With a record of 16-4 and only allowing one fight to make it to the judges, the 23 years old Lauzon could be returning to the big stage with a decisive victory.
One of the most anticipated bouts in the region is set when New Hampshire's (6-2) Cody Lightfoot takes on New York's (6-3) Mike Stewart. Lightfoot's coming off a Doctor's stoppage (due to cut) loss to top ranked Greg Rebello. Unable to get a rematch, Lightfoot has signed on to face Stewart who is coming off of a win over Rebello.

Go figure that this is my old computer that nearly destroyed when trying to fix it with a couple of tire irons and a and some tins nips but this is a long story but I call my computer the frankienstien because it looked so bad and had the side missing from it by it worked good. When I was selling T-shirts at the time a friend of mine let me used portion of his tattoo shop to sell it with his logo on the back he let me set up for free.I did graphics for him and I had his logo and diffent designs that his artist had created on my computer I had it all set up nice in his shop it was really cool.He took a % after the sale of the t-shirts I also sold novelty gifts at the shop as well. This was a great deal for both of us.
One year times were hard so he had to close one shop down and moved for a little bit After he left and months went by I neglected to take my T-Shirts,the racks,my novelty items and my computer out of his shop this was stupid of me but to make a long story my ugly computer and some racks were the only things left at the shop everything else was gone.It turned out that the people who took the stuff in the shop thought the computer was junk and left it there lol.

MEN VS WOMEN Is This a Taboo Subject??
both are skilled in MMA and are in the same weight class put them in a cage who would be victorious? would it be the man because he may be stronger or the woman because she is faster.I thought this would be an interesting subject.we may never know because it is very taboo.as a society we are raise never to hit a woman an many me would hold back and many people and would be up an arms saying this is not right.Kind of like women in football.Of a female doing a job that is normally done by a man.
I am more interested on the skill and ability in which sex will prevail women fought for hundreds of years to be equals in society and there is always will be a dispute on women doing certain fields that are dominated by men its a catch 22 what to you think on this matter? I posted a link from yahoo on this topic for more info click the title above...

UFC on FUEL Ratings: Debut Event Draws Record-Setting 217,000 Viewers
This artical was written By Shaun Al-Shatti - Staff Writer for MMA Fighting website.
Feb 17, 2012 - The UFC's debut event on FUEL TV, UFC on FUEL, averaged 217,000 viewers over the length of the three-hour broadcast, setting a new live-event ratings record for the fledgling network.
Wednesday's numbers mark a 46-percent increase from FUEL TV's previous ratings record of 148,000 viewers, earned by January's UFC on FX 1 preliminary card. UFC on Fox 2's live preliminary card averaged 144,000 viewers.
The massive leap in ratings can likely be attributed to several factors, but most notable among them is fact that the event took place during a FUEL TV free-preview week for numerous cable subscribers.Ratings peaked as 315,000 viewers tuned in to witness 26-year-old Jake Ellenberger force his name into title contention with a wild unanimous decision victory over Diego Sanchez. Beyond the headlining bout, four vicious stoppages lined the network broadcast, including Jonathan Brookins knockout win over Vagner Rocha which initially aired on Facebook.
"We fully expected the UFC was going to deliver FUEL TV extraordinary ratings, and now we're seeing it," said network Executive Vice President and General Manager George Greenberg. "We are beyond ecstatic about the audience and the impact the UFC is having on our network's growth thus far. The sky's the limit on where this network can go from here."
Meanwhile, Spike TV continued their counter-programming crusade to successful results, drawing 694,000 viewers for a replay of The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale and 661,000 for a Diego Sanchez-themed episode of UFC Unleashed.
Spike TV is currently available in roughly 99 million homes around the United States, while FUEL TV's total rests closer to 35 million. Though recent trends have seen that number continue to climb since the Fox-family network switched to a UFC-centric programming schedule.
"If you want to compare (FUEL TV) to a platform like Spike three times our size, I can't help that," Greenberg recently said. "But I can tell you, If you look at the FOX ratings and last FX ratings for the fight, and you look at what it's done to this place percentage-wise, we are absolutely killing it."

The Top Fighters in the UFC
This artical Was Written by T.O. Whenham - 10/13/2011
1. Georges St-Pierre (1) - I’ve been saying for a long time now that GSP will occupy the top spot in these rankings until he loses. He has won nine fights in a row, and I expect that streak to be extended at the end of October when he faces Carlos Condit at UFC 137. Condit is filling in for the talented but flaky Nick Diaz, and it’s hard to believe that he is of GSP’s caliber. The problem the UFC has faced with St-Pierre and Silva continues here — it is getting harder and harder to find a worthwhile opponent.
2. Anderson Silva (2) - Silva defended his title for the ninth time in August and he was very impressive in the second-round win over an outmatched Yushin Okami. His incredible last-minute comeback win against Chael Sonnen last year was the fight of the year in the eyes of several publications, and if Sonnen has his way a rematch will come in February. Sonnen called Silva out very boldly after his win at UFC 136, and the trash talk was flowing like only Sonnen can do. Silva is seemingly hesitant to respond to the bravado, but a rematch is too logical not to happen.
3. Jon Jones (3) - Last time around I felt like I may have been a bit premature lifting the new light heavyweight champion all the way into the No. 3 spot. This time around I am very confident he belongs. At UFC 135 Jones didn’t just defend his title against Rampage Jackson. He gave an MMA clinic. It was a wildly-impressive fight from a wildly-impressive fighter. Jones is unquestionably the real deal — the first guy in a long time to have the GSP or Silva immortality potential.
4. Jose Aldo (4) - There was questions about the featherweight champ after a win over Mark Hominick in April that was far from overpowering. Those concerns have been quieted now, though. Aldo was very impressive in beating Kenny Florian at UFC 136 to extend his winning streak to 13 matches. Aldo owns his weight class.
5. Frankie Edgar (5) - I was not impressed with Edgar after his draw with Gray Maynard on New Year’s Day. Needless to say, I’m much more impressed with him now. At UFC 136 Edgar got his revenge over Maynard and earned the knockout of the night for his efforts. It was hard to take Edgar seriously as a champion when he first took the title from B.J. Penn, but the more we see him the more I have to respect him. He’s the real deal.

At UFC 136 Edgar got his revenge over Maynard and earned the knockout of the night for his efforts. It was hard to take Edgar seriously as a champion when he first took the title from B.J. Penn, but the more we see him the more I have to respect him. He’s the real deal.

Kimbo Slice has his own Web Site
Looks like Kimbo Slice is doing well for himself after leaving the UFC or(getting force out)
starring in the The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption and he has a match up in on Febuary 11th 2012 he will be fighting at The O'Reilly Center in Springfield, Missouri.
I think it was a big mistake what Dana White did.I think if he had the chance to fight more matches and gained more expieriance in MMA he would be a force to be delt with.I am a fan of Kimbo Slice and I hope he has a sucessful future ahead of him to check out his website just click the title below.

Rashad Evans: Phil Davis looks like Arsenio Hall and John Salley had a baby
This artical was written by Jesse Holland on Jan 26, 2012 5:09 PM EST in UFC Press Conference
The UFC on Fox 2 comedy tour rolled on today with the pre-fight press conference designed to hype the "Evans vs. Davis" network televised event booked for Saturday night (Jan. 28, 2012) at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
Middleweight rivals Chael Sonnen and Michael Bisping were slinging mud to the best of their ability; however, event headliner Rashad Evans may have had the line of the night with this gem he dropped on light heavyweight opponent Phil Davis.
And this time (thankfully) it had nothing to do with Penn State University or the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal.
"Phil can't punch nobody hard. Phil can't hit. Phil punch with his hands open and everything. He don't hit hard. He couldn't bust a grape. Phil lookin' like Arsenio Hall and John Salley had a baby."

A mixed martial arts fighter from Minnesota has been knocked out from his job as an assistant wrestling coach following comments he made about President Obama last month, he told FoxNews.com.
Jacob Volkmann, 31, of White Bear Lake, Minn., said he was placed on paid administrative leave on Friday by the White Bear Lake School District after he invited Obama to make an appointment with him for a "glass-ectomy" on Dec. 30.
"A glass-ectomy is when you cut your belly button out and put a piece of glass in there so when you have your head up your butt you can see where you're going,"

UFC Vs. Strikeforce: MMA Needs A Super Bowl
By Nate Wilcox - MMA Editor
Mixed martial arts (MMA) needs a superbowl. An annual fight card pitting Strikeforce and UFC champs against each other would do the trick.
Follow @MMANation on Twitter, and Like MMA Nation on Facebook.
Jan 8, 2012 - When Zuffa, the parent company of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) first bought Japan's Pride Fighting Championships, UFC president Dana White promised fans there would be an "annual MMA superbowl." Unfortunately Pride went down in flames without a Japanese TV deal and Zuffa instead shipped its best fighters to the UFC.

Will a Lack of Star Power Hurt UFC PPV Buys in 2012?
This Artical was wriien by Vince Carey(Featured Columnist) on January 4, 2012 from the Bleacher Reports Website
When the UFC announced its deal with FOX earlier this year, it was assumed by most that the sport was primed to hit new highs in 2012, but with major stars either injured or retiring, the new year could be harder than most anticipated.
In the past few months, the UFC has lost its three biggest PPV draws for various amounts of time.
Anderson Silva is suffering from a shoulder injury and is likely out until mid-2012, Georges St-Pierre blew out his knee and will miss most or all of the new year and Brock Lesnar officially retired from the sport after his loss to Alistair Overeem at UFC 141.
These three have headlined most of the major UFC events over the past three years, and their loss cannot be overstated.
Luckily for the UFC, there is still hope for PPV buys to increase in 2012, even without their biggest draws available.
2011 was undoubtedly the year of Jon Jones, and as long as he is still primed and ready to compete in 2012, the UFC should be able to reach their goals.
Throw in the emergence of champions Frankie Edgar, Jose Aldo and Junior dos Santos and the organization has plenty of exciting fighters to hold their own in terms of PPV buys.
Perhaps more important than the champions is the crop of contenders that have moved into title contention over the past 12 months.
Urijah Faber is one of the most popular fighters in the sport today, and he has earned himself a title fight against Dominick Cruz at some point in the new year, and other top draws like Rashad Evans, Overeem and Chael Sonnen could all get title opportunities in the next 12 months.
While the loss of Silva, GSP and Lesnar will definitely hurt the organization going forward, they have proven time and time again that they don’t have to rely on stars to sell fights and they have a great group of new potential stars waiting in the wings to pick up where the others left off.
