Urijah Faber is the most famous 135-pound mixed martial artist in America—period.
The man with the million-dollar smile and elite skills was the face of the WEC for the three years leading up to the decision by Zuffa to fold the fledgling promotion into the UFC. He has probably signed thousands of autographs during and after his record-setting reign as a WEC champ. Faber has used his star power to successfully market himself like no other bantamweight in domestic MMA history. The net result is a burgeoning business empire in his native Sacramento and, of course, regular headliner status on fight cards, which means big checks for strapping on the gloves and fighting.
Dominick Cruz doesn’t have any of that. He isn’t famous. Cruz hasn’t appeared in major market commercials, unlike Faber’s K-Swiss cameos.
But none of that matters because Cruz has one thing that Faber desperately wants: the UFC Bantamweight Championship.
Yes, that is right. Cruz is the reigning 135-pound champion, despite the fact that he will be making his UFC debut on Saturday night. The crown was won in his final WEC fight, and it was a well deserved honor. The little ball of fire is in the midst of a seven-fight winning streak, including three straight when WEC gold was at risk. He has been as dominant over the last three years as any WEC fighter not named Jose Aldo.
But here is the kicker. Faber already owns a win over Cruz. Yes, you read that correctly. The pair squared off in a March 2007 fight. Faber was the reigning 145-pound champion at the time. Cruz was making his WEC debut after a long, successful career in regional promotions.

The Warriors Way
A fun ride, May 8, 2011
This artical was written By Carissa Mongeon -
See all my reviewsThis review is from: Warrior's Way (DVD)
"The Warrior's Way" is a fun, light hearted action flick with a very stylized sense of art. Some people complain about "bad special effects" but given its relatively low budget and the fact that it was going for a very stylized and anime-esque approach to the world I would say the effects are spot on.
The plot is a bit silly and some of the acting does get a bit wooden but overall the cast puts on a good show. Despite being a bit silly at times the plot stays just serious enough to keep the viewer's attenion in between the over the top action sequences.
The climax of the movie in particlar has to be one of the more entertaining action scenes I've seen in a long time.
If you are looking for a deep romantic film or a gripping drama you may want to skip "The Warrior's Way" But if you're looking for a fun light hearted action flick with over the top action and a very "graphic novel" style of art and special effects I would definately recommend checking out "The Warrior's Way".

Nate Marquardt FIRED from UFC: Dana White’s SHOCKING REASONS
This artical was written by Sean Ferrell
Former King of Pancrase and former UFC middleweight title contender Nate Marquardt had hoped to drop down to the welterweight division in the UFC to face Rick Story tomorrow night in the main event. Instead, Nate is the one who’s been dropped.
Less than one hour after the UFC officially announced that Marquardt has been scratched from Sunday’s UFC on Versus 4 main event, UFC president Dana White informed the world Marquardt also has been released from the organization. Dana White said “I’m sure you heard that Nate Marquardt is out, it’s true. He failed his medicals. Not only is he out of this fight, out of the main event on Versus, he will no longer be with the UFC.”
Neither White nor Marquardt’s management team were immediately available for comment, but the announcement comes on the heels of a hectic afternoon after Marquardt “did not receive medical clearance” and was pulled from a planned main-event bout with Rick Story. Charlie Brenneman was quickly slated as a last-minute replacement to face Story. The heavyweight bout between Cheick Kongo and Pat Barry was promoted to the evening’s featured slot, where in all honesty it should be anyway.

UFCs own search engine
I was thinking for the UFC to have its very own search engine. This would be the way to go find your favorite fighter ,whats going on in the UFC the latest events and more and any other infomation.MSN has Bing,Google is expanding into other ventures I think this venture would be popular for the MMA organization from the fighters to the Fans.It is not so much how good a UFC serch engine would be is the custumary idea that we have our own I think will make this idea work. if you have any thoughts on this matter feel free to post or you can e-mail me at jandrbusiness@yahoo.com thank you for reading.
They do have a search engine I have the link just as always click the title above if you want to learn more.

State of the Sport come check out there website
Here is another great website on all sorts of infomation about sports. They also have alot of great articals on the UFC/MMA.Here is a sample of one of there articals....
Four fights that make UFC 132 worth it!
Many were surprised by what UFC 131 had to offer and now we look towards UFC 132 on July 2nd to do exactly the same. I heard a lot of “fans” on the internet say that the UFC 131 card wasn’t really worth dishing out the $50 to order.
I realize times are tough but let’s be realistic.
That’s five days of taking your own lunch to work instead of buying a coffee and Subway. That’s one less video game you could do without for the month. It’s not a lot of money when you break it down and if I still haven’t convinced you through my mathematical sorcery here are four fights from UFC 132 that make that card worth $50 on it’s own.
I am pretty biased on this first one (and it‘s probably not even going to be televised). I am Australian and for me to have someone to cheer for inside that Octagon, that’s a big thing. George Sotiropolous was heading towards glory for a little while. With seven straight wins to his name he was sure to be in line for a title shot, however he came unstuck at UFC 127 when he just couldn’t do a thing against Denis Siver. Not to worry though, back on the horse for Georgie and he steps into the cage this time around looking to get back on the winning track against Rafael dos Anjos (who was supposed to be Evan Dunham). Someone is going to tap out in this one and I know it’s not going to be Georgie boy!
Tito Ortiz has a lot of haters. It’s unfortunate because he really is a nice guy when it comes down to it. His fight with Ryan Bader is going to be do or die. Tito pretty much has to win this to keep his career alive, it hasn’t been confirmed but everyone kind of sees this as the last chance for Tito to get back into title contention. Bader has just come off his first career loss at the hands of the current Light Heavyweight champion. Everybody loses once, it’s almost guaranteed, it’s not the loss that kills your career, it’s what you do after it. I like Bader but I like Tito more, I want the underdog (Tito) to win this one so he can have one last “hurrah!” for his career.

SHOULD THERE BE A UNION IN THE UFC.
I know that this is a big isse where I work.Several people where I work is trying to set up a union. There are reasionable arguements in both sides.the Union promises to give us pay raises, vacation pay,and will stand by you if you get fired unjustly. The company argues that they take care of there employees and could lose alot of money if there were a union here.
i was thinking about the UFC organization and wonder if they would be better of if the fighters have a union.there is a big issue of the fighters not having health insurance.I think in my opinion that Dana white would be upset if the UFC became a union.I think it like anythimg else big or small no matter where you work or if you are an up in comming fighter in the UFC.
This subject will take careful thought on both sides,Make sure you take a look at the pros and cons before you choose.Always make the choice that is best for you and not let anyone bully you in your desission.

White vlog: Vick, Ice-T, Bradford big UFC fans
This artical was written by Maggie Hendricks
Things to watch for:
-- Lots and lots of F-bombs. If your boss isn't keen on f-bombs being thrown around, don't watch this.
-- About a minute in, St. Louis Rams QB Sam Bradford telling White that some player is "better than I was at that age." If you can figure out who Bradford is referring to, do tell.
-- Two and a half minutes in, Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick making plans to go to UFC 133 at the Well Fargo Center in Philly. Hopefully, the lockout will be over by then and the fights will be a respite for the Eagles who are in training camp. Right? Hopefully?
-- White appeared at E3, announcing that pay-per-views will soon be available gaming systems like the Xbox.
-- At the end, White talks to Michael Bisping and Jason "Mayhem" Miller about their predictions for Carwin vs. dos Santos. Not surprisingly, the two coaches of the "The Ultimate Fighter 14" don't agree.

Report: Purchase of G4 network could cost UFC $600 million
by Geno Mrosko on Jun 9, 2011 5:37 PM EDT in UFC News
According to a report from Bloomberg.com that cites multiple analysts with knowledge of the situation, the potential sale of the G4 network, a cable video game channel, could cost the UFC up to $600 million.
That's because the channel reaches 60 million homes in the United States, and will likely demand $5 to $10 per home in the sale, if it is to occur.
Wall Street Journal originally scooped the news of the potential sale and The New York Times confirmed that the two parties met in New York City as recently as yesterday.
The reason UFC seems to be shopping for a new home on cable TV is due to a recent breakdown in negotiations with Spike TV, the original home for the organizations extensive programming.
It was initially reported that UFC was asking for $325 million a year to remain with Spike; however, that number was apparently inflated and actually represents the amount for the life of the deal.
Still, it appears as though Spike is preparing to part ways with UFC once the contract expires and move directly into a new relationship with Bellator Fighting Championships.
Company President Dana White today stated at the UFC 131 pre-fight press conference that no deal is close to done just yet and they are in continued talks with "everybody."

Many Fighters From the UFC has no Health Care!!
Many of the UFCs Fighters has no health insurance Joe Stevens is one who is struggling Fighting with out health coverage.Things are looking up for him becauce he is working with a new accountant who is helping him set up a corperation so it would be easier for him to get health insurance. This is something to think about a walmart employee making 7.50 per hour does not have to worry about getting hurt or sick because Walmart provides him with medical insurance but some of the famus UFC fighters are not so lucky interesting I think the president of the UFC has to take a closer look at this issue.WWE had a problem like this in the past im not sure if they provide health care to the wrestlers or not.
I know if it was not for the UFC Fighters who fight hard for the people and the organization the UFC would not be as great as it is now I think in my view the UFC should provide the fighters with something. Thank you for reading what I have to say and you can read the full artical

Dana White is upset with the Judging
Dana White was extremely upset with the Judges on UFC 131 saying in his quotes "I don't know what the [expletive] in the world that guy was seeing. He should never judge a fight again, ever." "I actually had to go to the restroom (during the Florian-Nunes fight)," White admitted. "I left halfway through the third round. I came back later, and Joe Silva said, 'Can you believe that that was 30-27? I said, 'Someone scored that fight 30-27?" All I can say about this was I know 1oo% that the fight was honest and legit because Dana did not buy the Judges they made the decided on there own free will. mabe in the next event 132 the judges will decide in Dana's favor if you want to read the complete artical you can go to the mma junkie website by bleacher by clicking the title above...

UFC plays second fiddle to Stanley Cup
This artical was written by By Kevin Iole, Yahoo! Sports
Fast forward a year and White is back in Vancouver, promoting UFC 131 on Saturday at Rogers Arena, with a lot more respect for hockey, particularly Canadians’ passion for the sport. Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final at Rogers Arena between the Boston Bruins and the hometown Vancouver Canucks is Friday night and the UFC was not the big story in town, as it was a year earlier.
A Boston-area native, the usually outspoken White was asked at the UFC 131 prefight news conference whether he was rooting for the Bruins. White demurred and didn’t answer, a rarity for him.
[ Buy UFC 131: Dos Santos vs. Carwin ]
Later, as he was pressed about the wisdom of scheduling an MMA event in Canada during the week of the Stanley Cup Final, White finally gave some ground.
“The thing about coming up to Canada is, people love their hockey up here,” White said. “It’s the only thing everybody cares about. It’s part of this culture. They’ve treated us so well up here and I feel we’re the No. 2 sport [in Canada] behind hockey. When they have their championship going on, I absolutely respect that 100 percent.”
The fact that the Canucks are playing for the Stanley Cup has taken some of the attention away from the UFC card and pushed the coverage of the show into the back pages of the local papers. The fight card is still not a sellout, but both White and Tom Wright, the UFC’s head of the Canadian office, are unconcerned. Wright said the Rogers Arena will be configured on Saturday to seat between 14,000-15,000 and he said he expects ticket sales to hit between 13,000-14,000.
White said the Canucks deserved the attention they were receiving and said he didn’t expect it to hurt the UFC card at all. He’s frequently praised the Canadian market as one of his best and said that Canadians are supporting the UFC show despite the presence of the Stanley Cup Final in the city.

UFC Looking to Buy G4 Cable Channel, Spike Execs Prepare to Move On
In a blockbuster development, the UFC is in talks to buy an ownership stake in the G4 cable channel, according to published reports.
On Wednesday, New York Times TV reporter Brian Stelter tweeted that a source had confirmed that "Comcast is meeting with UFC today about possible sale of a stake in G4." Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal furthered the developing story, saying the UFC is in discussions to "buy control" of the network.
In recent days, sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity told MMA Fighting that Spike, which has been the home of the UFC since 2005, is essentially preparing for life without UFC, and that it will move the Bellator promotion on to the channel in 2012.

Q&A: Brock Lesnar on his recovery, WWE vs. UFC, marriage and more Read
Ramsey Nijem and Tony Ferguson will be in Las Vegas on Saturday night, competing for the fighter contract the UFC awards to the winner of its reality TV show, The Ultimate Fighter. They're the last two survivors in the season-long game of musical chairs.
Also on the TUF 13 finale fight card (Spike, 9 p.m. ET) is a potentially electrifying bout between Anthony "Showtime" Pettis and Clay "The Carpenter" Guida, whose nicknames tell you all you need to know about their respective flashiness and work ethic in the cage.
Who'll not be there? Brock Lesnar.
The former UFC heavyweight champion, who served as a coach on this season's weekly Spike show, was scheduled to face the other coach, Junior dos Santos, in a No. 1 contenders bout at UFC 131 a week from Saturday. But Lesnar pulled out of the fight three weeks ago because of a relapse of diverticulitis, the intestinal disease that sidelined him for nearly a year beginning in the fall of 2009. So dos Santos, who I'm guessing will be in Vegas this weekend to root on Nijem, from his TUF team, now will fight Shane Carwin for a shot at belt holder Cain Velasquez.

What the UFC does to the Comptition
If you cant beat them, buy them out!! In the last ten years UFC bought out Pride,WEC,Strike Force,Affliction, this is only the biggining and it works really good for the UFC and Dana Whites conquest of being the only organization around in the MMA world. The Bellator organization is the only one left for UFC to buy.In my opinion when one organization takes over the competition, you kind of lose the magic of what makes the organization its own.for example when WWE bought out WCW and ECW they was never the same I mean they try to be differend like RAW and Smack Down but its still the WWE behind it all. When the NFL bought out the AFL they tryed to make it different bu you know it is all the NFL.
Bellotar is the only one left that is independent from the UFC with its own style still in play the Bleacher Reports has an artical of 5 Reasons why the UFC should Buy out Bellator but for me loosing its edge like the others is one reason for UFC not to buy out Bellator if you want to read the artical from Bleacher Report then click the title above....

MMA Training Helps Teens Stay Out of Trouble
Teens growing up in troubled neighborhoods often find themselves drawn into seedy situations against their will. Whether it is peer pressure, or a feeling of despair for the future, many of today’s youth fall prey to the allures of gangs, violence, and drugs. One of the most effective ways to circumvent this calamity is by making sure these kids stay active in after-school programs.
One of the best activities for children and teens to participate in are the fitness programs held in their schools or local gyms. There are neighborhood fitness centers like these all across the nation. Their success stories never cease to inspire. Whether it is boxing, basketball, or badminton, studies have shown that after-school activities dramatically lower incidence rates of violence and crime amongst teens.
Chicago, as an example, has been infamously battling youth violence over the past few years. There have even been appeals to President Obama to intervene for the safety of his home-town. Thankfully, these after-school programs are fighting youth violence, while at the same time improving students’ grades in school; giving them the edge they need to succeed in life.

Philippines now likely to host first international “TUF,” UFC eyeing future world grand prix
UFC president Dana White is still hanging "TUF" with the Philippines, but his promotion is not quite there in mounting its first international version of the reality show.
"We're like one piece away from finishing the thing," White told reporters following UFC 130, which took place this past Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
That piece, however, could be the start of a much more ambitious drive to create a world grand prix of international competitors on "The Ultimate Fighter," he added.
White is a huge fan of the grand prix tournaments of the now-defunct PRIDE, which the UFC purchased in 2007, and he's taken quite a liking to soccer since the 2010 FIFA World Cup, even going so far as to issue a joking ban to the vuvuzelas that filled South African arenas to the annoyance of many.
An international "TUF" tournament could not only crown the best up-and-comer from beyond U.S. borders, but perhaps heighten interest from fans that want to cheer on their respective countries.
"It's like the World Cup of 'TUF,'" White said. "Dude, if we can nail that one, that's my dream."
A date has yet to be locked down for the Philippines-based season of the reality show. White has previously pointed to Canada and the Middle East as two front runners for international locales, but the Southeast Asian country took center stage this past February.
Back in 2008, UFC officials announced plans to host an event in the Philippines in mid-2009, and an open workout with Chuck Liddell drew more than 4,000 fans. Brandon Vera, whose father is Filipino, also held one of his own that drew 10,000 attendees.
The plans for an event in the country, which has a population of approximately 92 million, ultimately were scrapped due to the global financial crisis.
"TUF," which launched in 2005 on Spike TV, ends its 13th season this Saturday with The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale in Las Vegas.
Spike TV is unlikely to air the international editions of the reality show, but White said episodes could be hosted online.
"Technology is our friend," he said. "It keeps getting better and better."
